Coleman Cable Power Inverter PMP1200 Questions & Answers
Can I back feed through my inverter from a
What does it invert?Higher voltage to lower or what?Either way, with 1200 watts being inverted,it is not a good idea to charge a battery with that kind of power.Batteries need to be charged low and slow.We are talking milliamps for hours.Fast charging a battery results in a very good chance of explosion, which is never good.Acid from the battery will go everywhere.
I attach my inverter with custom battery cables
please check the voltage of the battery may be the voltage of battery is low or use the multi meter and check DC volts before conneceting the battery and after conneceting once more check the DC volts it could slove the problem
the beeping sound is due to battery low voltage
what is the DC input of the Inverter check the battery hook up if the inverter is of example DC 24 volts please check what is the input
Power going up and down
An incandescent lamp that is cold takes approximately 10 times the running current initially. The inverter MAY not be able to start the 500 watt lamp if its protection circuits sense the very low starting resistance of the lamp.
Test the inverter on some other device first.
Cannot find location of the spade fuse
I have an older pmp1200 and NO, you don't have to take the back off. Those spade fuses are for an empty RV power buse position where you will connect the inverter to fuse the DC side.
The PMP 1200 has pertection circuts inside for overload, but if a short on DC input were to occure it would not pertect your buse (and of course the battery) from causing a posible fire situation.
Since the DC cable size needed for the maximum curent draw on this unit is so large (4 gage), I would recomend a direct battery conection fused via a fuse holder that can handele the max current (10 amps). Check with your local battery stores for such items.
Warning: don't use fusing over this 10 amp rating because if the unit happens to short, it could start the battery to over heat and cause a fire or battery explosion.
