My Homelite trimmer won't accelerate.

Common problem with most small two strokes in garden equipment is that they often have a mesh spark arrester screen in the exhaust, the screens clog up with coke and stop the engine from breathing, give the screen a clean and check the exhaust port for coking if the screen is not clogged. If the port is coked up then carefully scrape it and reassemble. If the problem is not coke then it will be carburation, either tuning, clogging or a diaphragm needs replacing.

Dont know how the fuel lines run on polan pro 131

i have that same gas trimmer and i had to replace the fuel lines for it becuase it was leaking very badly.

ok so first use the new fuel line put that on through the fuel tank connect that with the gas and oil filter inside the tank if their is non in the tank then you will need to buy a new oil and gas filter. then take the fuel line you put in the tank connect that with the primmer connect it only to the top connection of the primmer now that another fuel line connect the bottom of the primmer and connect it with the fuel line to the back of the carburetor. now take another fuel line connect the to the fuel tank and put it direcly to the front of the carburetor. oh one more thing make shore the fuel lines arnt to long and not to short. becuase it can get hard to put the trimmer back together.

Shaft heating up next to trimmer head- smoking

You can wrap a rag around the threaded end of the string head shaft after removing the bump knob to hold in place while turning the upper part of the string head counterclockwise to remove. Then you can do the same to remove the metal shaft adapter nut above that, exposing the flex shaft in its entirety.

I can get it to run but its spits out alot of fuel

Sounds like you have either a clogged muffler ( carbon and oil residue) or a stopped up spark arrestor screen inside the muffler....remove the muffler and scrape the gunk out of the inside and clean the screen....while the muffler is off try starting the machine and see if it runs properly...if it does then you know it's the muffler !!! Hope this helps ;-D

Can not adjust carburetor

Yes...they have them on Ebay. Normally you won't be able to get one from a small engine repair place or dealer unless you're "in" with them. You can make using a 22 gauge-18 calibre electrical connector. (Quick disconnects-female) They need to be female spade terminals and you can stick um on the end of a screw driver and then push them down over the round-splined heads of the L and H adjusting needles on the carb. Probably have them at auto parts store....if not Radio Shack.

Out of trimmer line

You should be able to just pull the spool off the end. Try. Once you have it off, look closely at the spool. You will find the starting hole/s and the direction to wind the string. Good luck...Lee

What is the oil to gas mix? Paulan xt-200

Poulan motors usually use a 40:1 mix ratio.

That is 3.2 oz of 2-cycle oil to 1 Gallon (128 oz) of gas.

Be sure to not use gas with more than 10% Ethanol.

Weedeater starts strong , briefly runs and completely stops.

If it is not REEKING of unburned gas, likely the idle circuit in the carb is fine, but your high-speed jet/pintle seat is caked with crud...

If it was stored with fuel in it, you are going to find that nothing short of a rebuild on the carb is going to help you. :( Luckily, if you are handy many of these smaller diaphragm type carbs can be rebuild with tweezers, slot screw drivers, needle-nosed pliers, can of spray carb cleaner and a rebuild kit from any hardware shop. All told you're going to at most spend $16 bucks. If the engine is otherwise sound with all the work you put into replacing lines, fuel pickup/filer/stainer, the carburetor rebuild route will perk it right up. Good luck!
