Troy Bilt Tb70ss Gas Trimmer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My troy-bilt 70ss trimmer head and or attachments
Considering your experience, if I was in your position I would locate the cause of the persistent failure and contact the manufacturer who might be suitably grateful.
I did that once with an inspection light that was bought in from China and brand engineered, as many goods are today, and I received a voucher and the company stopped buying that model. While it didn't help me much it would have helped others.
I am not familiar with the Troy-bilt brand which must be an exclusively US brand. I have used a MAC-60A for 30 years without many problems, a model reckoned by repairers to be a short-lived cheap consumer model.
I am trying to remove the outer spool assembly. How do I do it?
What does it say in the user manual? Or possibly you don't have one and haven't gone online to get one.
Anyway, most of these spools are removed by pushing two lugs together while pulling the spool away from the housing. Replacement is by just positioning the spool and pushing it into the housing until it clicks into place.
I pump the primer bulb but doesn't get any fuel in it .
check the fuel 'pick-up' filter in the tank to be sure it's not clogged or stuck inside where it's not in the fuel mix. check the fuel lines for clogs, debris, or fuel 'shellac-ing'.
if the filter and lines are clear and secure, then check the seating of the fuel bulb. you may have a leak allowing air to be pumped rather than fuel.
Why dont i have spark
1).Switch is off or defective.
2).Coil is defective.
3). Test spark with the proper tool !?!
Tb7oss trimmer won't start
to be honest, it would probably be less expensive and far less time consuming to replace the entire trimmer with a new/used timmer. If you are willing to invest the time, replace the magneto, the spark line and be certain the spark plug is clean and properly gapped.
Weedeater repair
This could be the clutch (if it has one), drive shaft, or gearbox components at the end of the drive tube.
When the head is turned manually, does the clutch drum, if equipped, turn on the other end?
If so, the clutch components may have failed. If not, check both ends of the drive shaft and each of the sockets that it engages for any wear or stripped metal. If all of that looks good, it could be a failure within the gearbox.
Weedeater repair
Its possible that the drive shaft is broken or the end of the shaft is worn where it hooks into the gear head. The trimmer head has a hex fitting that meshes with the gear assembly in order for it to turn, its possible the hex is worn on the cutting head from usage, which would require replacing the outer spool assembly. Engine wont start
Here's a little trick that always works so long as your spark plug is in working condition. Remove the spark plug and pour a small amount of gas into the spark plug hole...I usually take the cap off of a tube of toothpaste and fill the cap with gas...it seems to be the right amount. After pouring it in, put the spark plug back in and start it up. If there is debris in the carburetor this will usually dislodge it through the vacuum of the running engine. Hope this helps : )
How to check ignition coil with ohm meter
The only way I know how to test a coil is to take the small wire that hooks into the tab on the coil off and then use a spark tester, this way you isolate the problem to either the spark plug or the coil. unplugging the small wire will eliminate the coil being grounded out by the switch.
