You have a bad freezer fan located in the back wall of the bottom. If you unplug the unit for 4 hrs and plug it back in and it works the fan is freezing up. There are service bullitens on this for a new design fan but you have to pay for the service call. Only thru an authorized LG dealer.

The relay is stuck shut on the main board. This is covered by an updated board with a heavier relay. Call a dealer and have them check for service bullitens on your model
Grrr noise
The noise you are hearing is probably the fan blades hitting some ice build up. Un plug your refrigerator for over night and it will defrost melting the ice. If it still makes the noise after that then the fan motor is going bad, you will need to replace it soon. The reason that it stops when you open the door is because the power is cut off to the fan when you open the door.

After taking the back out of the inside of the freezer compartment I noticed the whole coil was frozen solid. Using a hair dryer I thawed out the ice and then went to get parts. I asked for a defrost heater and the technician at the parts store felt it was more than likely a defrost heater sensor as they had been replacing quite a few for this brand LG fridge/freezer combination. I replaced the defrost heater sensor and put the unit back together. It has been 3 days now and all is working fine. Thank you FixYa for your assistance, as I am sure your guidance has saved me about $400.00. Will use your assistance in the future.

Hi,
Is that happen only once ? Or most of the times, the ice-maker refreezes ice. If this is a problem on most of the times, either this is defective thermistor or heater in the ice maker that heats up to release the ice is staying on to long and melting down the ice and warming up the unit up.You need to replace the Ice Maker , if that's the case.

The exact same thing happened to me. An LG service tech was sent to my home, only to tell me that he couldnt fix the problem.. a blown fuse. He said the entier fridge had to be replaced. You would think a blown fuse owuld be an easy fix, but evidentally not. LG did replace the appliance but after it was replaced they told me theyd only guarantee the new fridge for 90 days. After that, my extended service plan would come into effect. Good thing Id purchased that plan because my 90 days was up last month & now my ice maker has quit working. I will never buy another LG product!

THIS PROBLEM IS A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD!!! And, apparently, it's a common issue -- one we had as well. Remove the bulbs immediately and call LG, stressing the fact that it is getting hot in there.
For us, they sent out a replacement circuit board and cover for the lights because the original one had MELTED.
Refigerator is freezing food
Hi, this problem is going to be with the running thermostat. It has gone bad and stays open which in turn will keep the compressor running continually. It can normally be located in the control panel inside the fridge. Locate the thermostat and replace it.
If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck!! Mike
