check the valve adjustment a friend of mine has lost 2 sets of push rods they bent and fell into the motor

need to remove cover and check for possible stuck or damaged tab

There is a small wheel that rides on top of the adjustment block. Loosen the bolt that holds the block and move it down, thus lowering the engine carriage.

what is the model number of the engine and size of the engine? turn engine over to top dead center loosen the nut that hold the rocker on turn the star head until it gets the gap you want tighten the lock nut and re gap to be sure it is correct. i think it is going to be .004 on both intake and exhaust but check with a parts store to be sure.you will need you model number off of the engine.

Proper cleaning requires the spur gears be removed taking care to not lose the small dowel pin (dog). The spur gear needs to spin freely on the shaft. If not, clean the shaft with fine emery cloth and the inside hub of the spur gear. Clean dirt from the ratchet side of the spur gear so the dog can engage and release properly.

The dogs need to move in and out freely so as to engage by gravity. Clean any rust and dirt from the pin and pin hole.

I believe that's a Kholer CV25 which uses a simple oil pressure switch and there is no reset. Either there's insufficient oil pressure or the switch has failed or the sensor wire has shorted to a battery negative.

If you experienced this issue with an oil and filter change service, check oil level is proper. If oil level ok , remove spark plugs, remove oil dipstick, and crank engine for 15 seconds. Did light go off while cranking?... if no, wait 30 seconds and repeat. Try up to ten times.

most are set to shut off if the decks running when trying to reverse. some have a 2 position ignition switch so that doesnt happen

Is their movement with impeller / shaft if yes check the mounts and gear -- if no check the sheat metal and impeller housing

Troy would be a possible source

Likely it needs carburetor cleaning, try fuel treatment, measure dont guess.

The OHV MTD engine requires periodic valve adjustment every 100 hours.

No longer manufactured. Suggest you search eBay for a used switch.

It would be possible to replace the original switch with a generic switch OEM-725-0267A but may require relocation for mounting and other wiring modifications.
