the heater may be clogged. You will have to take it aprt, pull the hoses off, using somothing small, clean out the prots that the hoses hook to. After that, blow thru it if you can to see if air comes out. Then after it is put back together, put a mix of vinegar and water in and let it run thru until it works good again. Calicum and such plug up the works and just need to be cleaned out.

I just got a eVac from craigslist today 12-22-09. Fairly new only been run a handfull of times maybe. This came with a manual but theres not much to it. (15 pages) It is supposed to run about 45 min to a charge and its good to let the battery run all the way down before recharging.
I got a half hour runtime after a couple shorter runs that didnt hold charge very long or didnt run becuse there was a brush sensor error.
I believe these types of batteries are best stored for long periods with some charge left on them, otherwise run it down all the way before charging. Manual says battery temp is a factor in how long it takes to charge, im guessing hotter = longer.
Filter is cleanable with water. No detergent. Fan can be air dusted clean too.

These are my findings after 1 day.

This one didnt want to go on carpet very long before stopping with a "brush error". The 5 small screws that hold the black plate with the red brush sensor window that is directly above the brush comes out easily and exposes the brush sensor in the middle which is quite fragile but can be air dusted clean.
A magnet is good to have on hand, the screws are tiny. With the plate off, I also gently aligned one sensor to be slightly more parallel to the other. This also helped reduce the brush error.
Note which side comes out first because it will want to go back in the same way it comes out. If forced in, this is where you can potentially bend the sensors and undo your careful adjustment and cleaning of them, This is the most critical step so take it slow and have plenty of light to see that no sensor gets pushed askew. Its like Operation The Wacky Doctor Game ...in reverse, dont touch the sides of the window to the sensor...bzzzt!
