Why does my craftsman bushwacker hedge trimmers not go fast when I have it full throttle?

if engines stumbling when at full throttle , ck to see that your getting full fuel flow ( lots of bubbles in primer bulb are a sure sign of not a good flow) , locate the fuel filter inside fuel tank , ck it for a dark color ? if so replace it , also try adding some normal car fuel system cleaner to your fuel next time u run it for a few minutes , this helps to loosen stuck deposits inside the carb

Hedge trimmer runs for a minute and cuts off. Will not start back up immediately. Change spark plug and cleaned carbureator

Could be bad diafram pump on bottom of carb. Looks like a gasket with a metal piece in middle.

Dirty carburetor

IF you're right, then you have three options:
  1. Replace carb, or
  2. Remove and overhaul carb [a little expensive and not "fun"],
  3. Try one of those relatively new "in-the-tank" solvent cleaner kits [available at most auto parts stores], but if you do, BE SURE to follow all label instructions "to the letter."

Blades wont move

Either the gears, OR SOME machines have a "CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" [a safety feature] between the engine and the blades. IF your machine has this feature, then it's possible that the clutch has worn out and is slipping so badly that the blade won't move.

It sounds like more of a carburetor issue but out of curiosity did they say why they thought it was a compression issue? Although craftsman is a little high on their parts a lot of the aftermarket parts such as a carburetor a lot of times are not all that expensive. I can't imagine you'd have all that many hours on it unless you use it commercially to warrant a compression issue. Might be worth a try.
