with this type of transmission the wheels will turn in opposite directions. Please send me more info., it could be you have a broken main drive belt tha runs from the motor to the transmission, it is up between the frame rails, you will need to raise the front end to see it. To replace it you will need to drop the mower deck. Let me know what you find, if I can help you more at snor38@gmail.com

Once you've straightened it - you've finished the hard part. Now take the end without the pin and stick it into the hole located on the transmission frame (the metal piece that the transmission sits on.) It is directly under the seat. The hole is on the front side of the tranny frame. Once you have it all the way in, take the pin end and put it through the mower deck brace (right side.) There is a hole there also for this end. If it doesn't go through enough to get the washer and pin through, push the mower deck towards the anti-sway bar. It should give a lot since the anti-sway bar is off. Once you fasten it, your'e done!

I only know this because it just happened to me today. I have the same mower as you, so I thought I would share.

If this is a briggs and stratton they have a fuel pump on the front of the carb and ethanol plays havoc with the diaphrams in the fuel pump. I have to overhaul the fuel pump each year. Before you try anything else try "mechanic in a bottle" first. It is available at home depot, lowes, tractor supply etc. Just follow directions on the bottle and often it will clean out the varnish deposits in the pump and the carb both. Hope that helps.

Hydro units are pretty well sealed, if there is no leakage under the machine when left, then leave it alone.

Look for problems with your idler pullies, or check tosee if belt is routed between pullies correctly

Just a few things to check that might help. White smoke is normally caused by a lean running carburetor. Look for two adjustments on the carburetor. The low speed adjustment is a screw about center in the carburetor body. If there are 2 screws, look for a raised letter "L" next to 1 of the screws. Turn this for best run at idle. The high speed adjuster will be on the bottom of the float bowl or the second screw near the first one. Set this one for best run at high speed. High oil in the crank case is harder to detect. Check the crank case breather. It can be anywhere on the crank case. You need to remove a simple, sheet metal cover open at the bottom and normally has 2, 5/16 or 1/4 inch screws holding it on. Under it will be a small, round check valve or a small piece of hog hair. Whatever it is, clean it real well. Sorry this is so brief, its difficult without seeing it.

if you have gas in your oil then it is likely youve got internal problems. the oil should never be under any circumstances mixed with the gas unless it's a 2 cycle
