I have a oil leak on a coleman generator
Most likely at the output shaft of the motor. If you are handy, you might be able to replace the crankshaft seal yourself, but this will probably require you to seperate the generator from the motor, and remove the cover holding the seal. If the leak is small, it may be best to just keep adding oil. If you have to take it to be repaired, it may be more expensive than the unit is worth.

Motor Blew Up
Normally they only have a 90 day warranty. But if the generator is under a year old I would contact the manufactor and see what they say.

Does anyone have a solution to the surging problem?
Is it surging under load or not? Surging is generally fuel related and can be a multitude of reasons, most likely in the carb if it has sat. It can also be binding or sticking governor arm, make sure it is free to move, and you have the correct weight oil and level in it.

Generator will not idle
Check that the choke isn't stuck...should be a small curved pin you slowly pull in and out. Check your manual for its location. If its stuck in one position that could be your problem. If you can't find your manual, do an online search; usually you can download one.

Coleman Powermate full throttle
There may be a choke handle that should reduce the engine RPM. Otherwise contact the Coleman technical support department.

WHERE DO i FIND THE sERIAL NUMBER TO COMPLETE THE
The S/N (Serial Number) should be stamped into (or printed on) a small metal plate, usually rivetted on to the side of the generator housing. It should list model number, s/n, horsepower and wattage ratings as well.
If it's missing, I'd contact whomever you bought it from, (if you can find them - these aren't removed unless they don't want it traced, eg. stolen merchandise).
If I can be of further assistance, or if you have questions about any of my response(s), please let me know before rating me.
If this solves the issue, please rate it accordingly. My goal is to earn a "Very Helpful" rating from everyone I help.
Thanks for using Fixya.com,
