How do I separate the engine from the generator? I
If you are trying to remove the power head from the engine tip the engine side down so the recoil is at ground level. Place some rags between the engine and the generator. Locate or obtain a bolt that is snug in the hole of the generator at least 4 inches long with a nut and a big fat washer. Spin the nut up about 8 or 9 threads and start wrapping the bolt with teflon pipe tape. I am talking about making a HUGE bulge of teflon tap just past the first thread almost to the washer. You will be using the teflon to grip the end of the rotor and act like a threaded insert. Fill the hole that you removed the long bolt from with oil all the way to the hole opening. Start threading the bolt into the hole and use the nut to keep the washer flat against the end of the rotor and to keep the teflon from peeling off. After the bolt has passed into the hole about 2 inches it should separate the rotor from the engine. It will BANG when it pops loose and dump the oil you added onto the rags. I.e it will scare you! Then you can just lift it off.
I have done this so many times to repair generators that I have lost count. It works every time.

Does it have an exhaust pipe ?
All generators have exhaust mufflers . But they do not have extentions to add to the exhaust . You should never modify exhaust systems on generators .

What concerns me is you said "there is no current anywhere."
This lead me to believe that given at the time of failure you had a light load on the unit that maybe something simple like a wire has vibrated off a connection somewhere.
Is this a brush type or inverter type generator? If it is a brush type one brush getting hot and moving away from the slip ring assy will cause the exact same symptom.
With the brush block installed you should read a low resistance across the brush block terminals.
If you remove the brush block and one brush is longer than the other one suspect the brush block as the cause.
If it is an inverter type generator there are two types one with an inverter electronics box and the other with one or 2 large capacitors. The one with the large capacitor if the condenser wire has come off or burned, the field will not flash. (Common issue)
There is also a 4 post diode block that must be functioning correctly to have a generator output. There is one terminal 90 deg out from the other three that is the positive terminal. It should read to all other posts in one direction and not at all in the other direction. (meter leads reversed)
This should be enough information for you to isloate the problem. If not just respond here and we can walk through troubleshooting your generator after you have the manual and have done some basic troubleshooting.

Automatic idle stays on when i use something
4 Things can cause this, 3 of which are related.
1) Governor arm is binding, or has slipped on the governor shaft. Check and reset if needed.
2) The "Load Detection" is not working correctly. Either it is not able to sense a load, or it won't disengage the solenoid.
3) Solenoid which moves the governor (for lower speed) has stuck due to dirt and grime in the housing
4) The linkage on the solenoid is binding due to dirt and grime.
The Econo Mode / IdleMatic / Whatever is actually hard on your appliances and tools. Nothing electric likes to be subjected to a low voltage at the wrong frequency, then be forced to tolerate a sudden change in frequency and voltage. Personally, I would find the pin that holds the solenoid linkage to the governor, and remove it, allowing you to remove the linkage altogether. Disconnect the electrical connector the solenoid, and just use the generator at full and proper speed.

Putting out half the volts
My 13 hp 8000 watt is not putting out any power dose it need to be exsited and if so were do i do it at?

High voltage low cycles
I worked at a tool rental center while going to college and learned how to service generators. Most appliances/tools require 50 to 60 cycles at 110 to 120 v. Your engine was designed to give maximum horsepower at 3600 rpm. Adjust the engine speed to produce 60 cycles and the engine should be at 3600 rpm and producing around 120v max. (Some special generators were designed to produce 230v 180 cycles, check manual) If your generator incorporates capacitors check them for at least 95% of printed uf value. They should be removed from circuit for testing. If there are two caps and one is weak make sure the new cap reads close to value of remaining cap. Finally there is usually a voltage regulator that varies the power to the armature magnet trying to maintain steady voltage depending on amp draw and engine condition. This regulator has no adjustment and is pass or fail type of item. Good luck, enjoy

Tripping phenomenon
A.Ifdiesel gensetoperates under rated conditions for a few minutes, the automatic air switch trips, after recloses, then trips a few minutes later with a burning odor.
The cause:
The main contact of the automatic air switch is not well contacted or the spring pressure is insufficient. and the lead-out wire of the switch is not well contacted. The above two reasons will increase the contact resistance of the main circuit of the automatic air switch and cause serious fever, which will lead to the action of the thermal release and lead to wrong tripping.
Methods of resolution:
At this time, we should clean the main contacts of the automatic air switch and flatten them with a fine file or fine sandpaper; Adjust contact spring pressure to make good contact; clean contacts, apply conductive paste if necessary, and lock connection screw.
