Royal 1280MX Shredder Questions & Answers
After a power surge, my
The last one I took apart you had to approach it from the bottom. Remove the lower bin, then start working on screws on the bottom of the shredder. The top part should then come off so you can get to the fuse.
I have a paper jam with only two inches hanging
If it wont go back or forward then your only recourse is to open it up and "manually" attempt to turn the motor and/or gears untill you can clear the paper. Dont put so much in at a time; and make sure you regulaly oil the machine.
When we put paper in our shredder, even just 1
Have you ever oiled the machine.?????
Cross cut shredders need to be lubricated due to the amounts of small paper and dust generated.
Get some "shredder oil" run the machine in reverse and pour some of the oil onto the cutting blades...then when you shred paper put some oil onto a sheet of paper prior to putting it in the shredder. How often do you oil it??? depends how much shredding you do.
Won't go forward but will go reverse
If it wont go forward try cleaning the "eyes"...if that dosnt work you may have "fried " the PCB inside...contact Royal for parts assistance at 1-800-524-0799.
I was shredding a credit
Yes if there are no lights/dead then you have likely "fried" the pcb inside. You can contact Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for replacement parts and pricing.
Unit powers on, but the shredder tines won't run.
If you cant hear the motor running but you hear a click when you insert the paper it sounds like the eyes are ok so its likely the pcb thats defective...give Royal a call at 1-800-524-0799 for parts assistance.
ROYAL RL170MX Shredder won't shred
Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.
No power all of a sudden
If its dead and there is no power you have probably lost the pcb inside the machine...call Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts advice.
Cutting problem
Pour some shredder oil onto a sheet of paper and shred the sheet of paper...do this a few times to get the oil down into the cutting blades.
