May I suggest that you troubleshoot the connection leads from your blu-ray player?

If you connect the video output from your BDP to an AV receiver and then from the AV receiver to the TV, may I suggest running directly from the BDP to the TV, in order to limit the # of devices that may be introducing fault into your system?

Now take a look at your cables from the BDP to the TV: If you are using an HDMI cable, unplug it and use component cables (the red/blue/green cable type) instead. Vice versa, if you have been using component cables, switch it to HDMI. One easy place for you to correct for missing RED display information, is if you had been using RGB cables and it turned out that the red part of the cabling had either been partially unplugged or damaged in someway. Switching over to HDMI cables is a quick way to check that the BDP is capable of making correct reds, but that they were getting lost on the transmission route.

Let me know if your cabling changes produce success or no change, and we can take it to the next step.

I hope that helps.

With my Vizio tv and

You will have to isolate if it is your DVD or TV. You MUST put your DVD on another TV, IF it is doing the same thing, then obviously, the DVD is Faulty. IF However the DVD proves to be OK, then, you may have an incompatibility between the two. Are you sure your setting are all suitable for the content played, has the content been professionally mastered, or is it a Copy, a home burn, as IF it isn't a Professional copy, and it doesn't do it on those ones then your problem is a bad copy and burn.. You DO need to check the disks out before suspecting the units. Also you must check to see if the TV, does that symptom when NOT connected to DVD. Check ALL connections between TV and DVD, use the best cables you can get, ensure all Earths are good.

Need the remote codes from a bdp s-550 to program another remote

You need the sheet that came with the remote. If the manufacturer's codes do not work with your ??, then you need a more modern remote. The codes must ALREADY be in the remote to be used. The code is part of the REMOTE.
http://www.tvcodes.com/ may have the code for you.

Just purchased Sony Blueray from Costco and all

What video cables are you using?

It sounds like you have you component video cables hooked up improperly. If you are using the Blue Green Red connectors for video make sure they match those on the TV. If you have the Yellow plugged into the green or vice versa you will get a black and white picture.

Let me know if this helps,

Cheers!
