Failed capacitor on clarke SE 14 compessor
On electric motors with two capacitors, one is a start capacitor, the other is a run capacitor. Start capicitors have plastic cases and are rated from 200mf to 400mf and higher depending on the size of the motor. Run capacitors are in the 20mf to 40mf range and usually have metal cases. If you have an electric motor service center in the area they can recommend what size you should use for the size (HP) motor you have.
Whys does my compressor vibrate when switched on
It is part and parcel with the type of compressor you have. I expect it is similar to the pump on a Wagner paint gun rather than a rotational compressor with pistons more common to larger capacity compressors. It vibrates, it is supposed to. If that is problematic, buy a compressor with at least two cylinders.
Air leakage
Knowing the point of leak will confirm if the nipples, pneumatic hoses or joints are the culprit. Apply more pressure and listen to the leak , feel the leak using your palm which will confirm, if so remove the hoses and cut and re-tighten them. also if the leak if from the pressure cut off switch, pressure meter or safety valve, it must be removed and repluged or replaced.
My air comp. ac2001b will
There is a differential between the shut-off and start pressures of about 20 psi and these pressures are adjustable on some switches. What the switch must do as well is relieve the pressure on the compressor head so that the motor does not try start against a load. You shoud hear the pressure relieving when the compressor shuts off, if not you need to rectify this problem, otherwise check the pressure that the motor cuts in at and set it or replace the switch.
