LG Electric Dehumidifier Model# LRA24 not working - heating up and turning off

Heating up ? are u saying the fans not running (there are two fans inside) id look into why the fans aren't running , only one the speed is adjustable the other is not it runs solid speed all the time

My lg 65 pint dehumidifier is set at 40%. however it is turning on and off every 30 seconds or so. is this worth fixing considering it is 3 yrs old?

if thats where you run it at 40 i suspect it's overheating and shut off possibly broken now , one should never set a humidistat less than say 66%rh as a normal house is 70%rh and asking anything more of a home unit is just not possible if moisture is that much a problem try running two units about twenty feet apart , they will cycle more to cool down and will run longer , might even be more efficient than running one harder

You can't, it uses freon.
