How do i identify the negitive and positive

About the only way to do that is with a multimeter, preferably digital. Touch the probes onto the contacts and if the red probe is on the positive terminal, the reading will be a straight reading, eg. 18.6v. If the black probe is on the positive your reading will be a minus (negative) reading. eg, -18.6v. If you are using an analogue meter, you have to be quick or you will damage the instrument. If the red probe is on the positive terminal you will get a reading. If the black probe is on the positive reading the needle will go of scale below the zero point. Use a high voltage setting to minimise the input to the meter.

Milwaukee tool 18 volt nimh

If the battery pack is more than 2 years old its time for a replacement. The typical charge/discharge life cycle of a rechargeable cell is 500 - 700 times and the shelf life is about 3-4 years from the date of manufacture. If the charging indicator lights up when you dock the battery on to the base and still does not work after 5 hours - its due for a replacement.

Hi, i have a 18v rechargeable hand held vac

Before I gave up completly on this battery I would remove it from tool and put battery in freezer overnight. Remove from freezer and let set at room temperature for several hours. Try to charge and see what happens. I don't pretend to know why this works but I have done this with every thing from ceel phone batteries to cordless drills and several other tools. If you need a new battery you should be able to get one at any hardware store that carries De Walt tools. I know arond here True Value is one that carries a large selection of De Walt tools and supplies. Hope this helps. Thanks

Proper way to charge a battery

Always ensure it is TOTALLY Flat before charging, when charging leave totally alone for the recommended time of charge, usually a few hours, but may be up to 8. See your documentation. Always use two packs, one in use the other charging, this is the best way to get a full life from your packs.

Usually not. If the cells are dead and wont hold a charge there is really not much you can do except replace it or get the battery repacked with new cells.

When ever I put on my battery on my dewalt charger the indicator light blinks faster than normal while charging

Possible reasons for this behavior: Blinks Long (Red Light): If your battery is too hot, the charger will blink the red light rapidly and for an extended duration. To prevent this, ensure that your battery is not exposed to direct sunlight or excessive heat. Give it some rest to cool down. Blinks Short: If the battery is too cold, it will blink short and fast. This could be due to prolonged exposure to cold temperatures or the battery being idle for an extended period. Allow the battery to charge for a while or bring it to room temperature to resolve this issue. Blinks Very Fast (Doesn't Go Away): If the light is blinking very fast and persists, it indicates that your battery has gone bad and needs replacement.

I have a DeWalt D2570 - GB. Stopped working. On disassembly I found a bare wire from the capacitor. Where should it go?

A photo would greatly help with your issue, are both wires still attached to the capacitor?? in not, the capacitor must be replaced with one of the same value, if the capacitor is ok, look for a wire with solder on the end but nothing else attached to it, or a solder point on a card with a hole in it or a solder joint that has broken free from the card,,, if you can solder well, and have the equipment,. it is good at this point because You'll need to re-solder them back together,, again a photo will help me greatly in telling you exactly how to fix

How do I get a stuck bit out of my DeWalt dc 895?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNDgV_6k12E Reverse and Forward Mode: Try putting the drill in reverse mode and hit the trigger, then forward mode. If that doesn't work, tap the tip on the driveway but don't slam it. It should release . Use a Wrench: First, make sure that the chuck is in the locked position. Next, use an allen wrench to loosen the set screw on the side of the chuck. Finally, unscrew the drill bit from the chuck . Remove Chuck Collar: Use a wrench or pliers to loosen the chuck collar and remove it from the chuck. Then, use a screwdriver or other tool to remove the chuck jaws and any other components that may be blocking access to the stuck drill bit. Once these components are removed, you should be able to access the drill bit and remove it from the chuck .

Missing component off of Dewalt DCB107 board. Need component ZD1 name

It's going to be a zener diode, that's the easy part, you will need to know the voltage as well, only way to know that is find a good charger and measure the voltage drop across the diode with a multimeter or find a schematic.

Wire placement on switch of DeWalt DWD520 hammer drill

Here are the wire placements for the switch of a DeWalt DWD520 hammer drill:
  1. The red wire from the motor goes to the top left terminal on the switch.
  2. The black wire from the motor goes to the top right terminal on the switch.
  3. The white wire from the power cord goes to the bottom left terminal on the switch.
  4. The black wire from the power cord goes to the bottom right terminal on the switch.
It's always recommended to double-check the manual or contact DeWalt customer service for confirmation, as wire placement may vary depending on the specific model and year of manufacture.

I have Dewalt D26501 and it will not run. I have a red light flashing at the rear of the drill, i'm getting full power but, as soon as you press the trigger, the red light flashers but, no go.

The red light flashing at the rear of your DeWalt D26501 could indicate a few different issues with the tool. Here are some potential causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Battery issue: If you're getting full power but the tool won't run, it's possible that the battery is not delivering the correct voltage or is not making proper contact with the tool. Try removing the battery and reseating it firmly in the tool, making sure it clicks into place. If the battery is still not delivering power properly, try charging it fully or using a different battery to see if that resolves the issue.
  2. Trigger issue: If the red light flashes but the tool does not run when you press the trigger, it's possible that there is an issue with the trigger itself or with the wiring connecting it to the motor. Try checking the trigger for any visible damage or debris, and make sure it moves freely when pressed. You may also need to check the wiring connections inside the tool to ensure they are secure and not damaged.
  3. Motor issue: If neither the battery nor the trigger seem to be the issue, it's possible that there is a problem with the motor itself. This could be caused by a number of factors, including a burned-out motor or a malfunctioning component inside the tool. If this is the case, you may need to take the tool to a professional technician or contact DeWalt customer service for assistance.
Overall, troubleshooting issues with power tools can be challenging, and it's important to take appropriate safety precautions when working with them. If you're unsure about how to proceed or are not comfortable working on the tool yourself, it's best to seek professional assistance.
