Acer 22" X223w LCD Monitor - Page 6 Questions & Answers
My screen says auto configure
It's perfectly "normal" -- your LCD monitor is adjusting itself, automatically, to the output from your computer's video-card
(e.g., 800 by 600 by 60 Hertz).
Restart your computer in "Safe Mode", and reset the display-resolution to 800 by 600 by 60 Hertz. Then, restart,
and then everything will be OK. When it is, try to increase the resolution, incrementally.

I am having trouble finding a truly 'free' video
Monitors don't need drivers, video cards do - and all drivers are free. If you are asked to pay for one close that page immediately, it's a scam.
All your problem come from the fact that you are using the default VGA driver - just get the one for your pc and all will be OK.
Monitor freezes up
Hello,
If your monitor is freezing up, this could be a virus problem or the hard disc on the personal computer is over loaded, meaning the hard disc is nearly full or almost full, you will need to scan your system to ensure the system is virus free, if that did not solve the problem, ensure delete unuseful program or data from the hard disc and also delete unusable icon on the screen of your monitor. this will help solve the problem.
Take care.
Screen is too light, how do I darken
Press the 'OSD' (On Screen Display) button on the front/bottom of the LCD, to show a bunch of menu items. Choose "brightness", and adjust it to a darker value.
My screen is splitting in 2
Connect the monitor to another (desktop or laptop) computer, to see if the problem "follows" the monitor.
Connect a different monitor to your computer, to see if your computer is sending the "wrong" video-output to your monitor.
No colour on my monitor
One missing color could just as well be caused by the graphics card (or chip) or, if using a multi-pin interface connector, it could simply be a pin that isn't contacting anymore.
The problem is, that red drive is missing.
Remove the end(s) of the video connection cable and reinsert several times to 'wipe' the contacts.
If the problem is constant and you have the opportunity, swap your Acer with another monitor or try yours with a different computer.
You need to roughly locate which electronics is at fault and that is the easiest way.
On the right side, color line showed up last week
You can check by yourself if the problem is brought by a video card. Disconnect your present video card from the motherboard. It is the hardware where vga cable from the monitor is connected to on the back of your computer. Replace it with your back up video card. (a pci or agp graphics card will do) connect the vga cable and restart your computer. If you don't have a back up video card, find in the computer a built in video card, enable this on the cmos'bios setup) connect the vga cable thru this and turn on your computer. If the lines went out then it is the video card that needs replacement. If the lines still occur despite the procedure, I suggest you bring your unit to a credible technician unless you have the skills to open your lcd monitor and find the problem in it by yourself.
My acer x223w lcd monitor is flickering. When I
hi, have you checked running the monitor on all the outputs? dvi? vga? flickering is caused most times by bad connections either in the video cable, or on the video board, or power board inside the monitor. i know those monitors pretty well, i'm willing to bet if you opened up the monitor and looked at the power supply board, you would probably find worn/blown capacitors. this could very well account for the flickering. electrolytic capacitors store power for parts of the circuit that require lots of power to run. when they go bad(overheat) they pop up at the top, sometimes leak a little fluid. they are replaceable, need to be soldered in, and you can find them at most electronic stores abundantly, but you should check everything else first, the video cables(dvi, vga) before opening the monitor.

You need to check the power secton to see if you do have 5vdc (for logic) and 12~18vdc (for backlight inverter) in the power supply first.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.
