Unit runs but water collects on the floor

The drain hole within the unit is most likely plugged up with an accumulation of crud. (Common problem). Depending on the make/model, you may be able to access that drain hole by simply removing the collection bucket. If not, then unplug the unit and remove the housing to gain access to the internal drain.

Why did my dehumidifier start draining into the

Check for crub which may be blocking the drain hose. Blow the hose out by connecting it to your outside garden hose and turning on the water full force. Then reattach it to your dehumidifier.

Will not run or turn on light will not turn on

Had a similar problem with Goldstar model DH305. A solution was already posted about cutting the two white wire going to humidity control, and it works until tray fills up (no control). However, if you want a complete fix which allows you to control by selecting humidity level go to the following site:

Not collecting water

If everything is running and no water is being produced the system may have lost its refrigerant. There are two motors in dehumidifiers. One is the fan and the other is the compressor. Make sure they are both running.

NO POWER TO MY DEHUMIDIFIER

I took my dehumidifier apart and I found why the unit no longer would start.

First, there is a fuse inside the metal compartment that houses the control circuit board.
However, the fuse was not blown. Instead I found the relay that controls the compressor,
(circuit diagram calls it RY-COMP) was not functioning and was left in the open position.
The relay must switch the compressor on/off based on humidity, full water hopper, and
maybe other factors like temperature.

The RY-COMP is a large black plastic component on the circuit board with two
wires (blue and black) connected at the top. I tested the contacts and they remained
open when starting up the dehumidifier. Doing a small bit of rewiring so that the blue and black wire
were connected and also wired to RY-COMP terminal 3, the dehumidifier came back to life.
However, this is good for proving what broke but without an electronic control to cycle the
unit on and off and to halt when the water hopper is full it's not a valuable alternative and
it risks a burnout of the compressor from constant use.

I think the RY-COMP relay is a solid state relay which could have gone bad from a spike
in voltage when plugging the unit in or cycling on/off.

I certainly don't want to buy another unit where the circuitry is not robust enough to survive
plugging in every couple weeks. I was thinking I could try replacing the relay with a magnet relay which would probably survive spikes much better.

Goldstar DH304 Freezing up / no water in bucket

Thermostat or the temperature control module are not working properly. Also make sure that your fan blades are not broken or warped as this will cause you a problem. Also if the coils have or do get iced up then it will be a low coolant problem. But this is a thermostat or temp control problem

Won't shut off

Contact points in the humidity control may be stuck or arced together. If so this item is not covered by warranty after the first year in most cases.

Compressor runs but fan will not come on.

Disconnect the motor leads for the fan motor, check the resistance through the motor when an Ohm meter. If you get no reading on the meter the motor is bad and needs to be replaced. also check the motor by rotating the fan. If it rotates with resistance the bearings may need lubrication. If it is a sealed bearing motor and no points for lubrication are there, replace the motor.

The main switch is broken off and it does not turn on

You have to remove the entire wrapper to get to the control circuit board, make sure you unplug unit!! Locate the small white wires that plug into the board and go to the humidity switch.Unplug the connector at the board and plug the machine in and see if everything runs. ps make sure you reinstall the bucket or unit will not run. If machine runs replace that humidity control. The plug on the board is usually white. The other white wire is 4 the light. I hope this helps./
