I have a goldstar DH40 , just bought it at a yard sale -

Give it a good cleaning before you do anything else. If the fins or filter are dirty, you won't get good service from it. Make sure the drain path is open.

I have an upright goldstar

First, be sure that the water collection bucket is installed properly and is making contact with the bucket safety removal switch that is located on the rear wall of the bucket holder. In addition, while you have the bucket out, check the inside of the bucket for a float valve. It may be stuck in the UP position. In which case, it will not turn ON. When reinstalling the bucket, be sure that it fit's "squarely" into the bucket holder from top to bottom. When installed properly, the bottom of the bucket will not tilt down at all and make good contact with the safety removal switch.

In addition, you may want to check the outlet it's plugged into, to be sure there's power to the outlet and ultimately to the dehumidifier.

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi, we have an older

Yes, you have a 40 pint Goldstar Dehumidifier. The holding tan., also referred to as a bucket fits into the bucket holder on the front of the unit. When installing it, be sure it fits "squarely" in to the holder from top to bottom. The bottom should not tilt down at all, when installed properly. The unit will not operate without the bucket being installed properly.

Hope this helps you, Ken and thanks for choosing FixYa.

The dehumidifier won't run.

Brad, there are several solvable things that can cause this:

1. The water collection bucket is not installed properly. Remove the bucket and reinstall it in such
a way that it fit's "squarely" into it's holder from top to bottom and makes contact with the bucket
safety removal switch on the back wall of the holder. When installed properly, the bottom of the
bucket will not tilt down at all.

2. The float valve in the top of the bucket (if yours is equipped) is either stuck in the 'UP' position or
float valve arm is broken. If it's stuck in the up position, jiggle the arm of the valve to make it
return to the 'DOWN' position. The float valve arm can be replaced if necessary. But in some
cases, you must purchase a new bucket with one already installed.

3. The outlet the unit is plugged into is faulty. Check your home's circuit breaker panel for a tripped
circuit breaker. If one is tripped, unplug the dehumidifier before resetting the breaker. If none is
tripped, check the outlet for power. It may have a loose or damaged wire on one of the terminals.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot & solve the problem. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have a Goldstar DH504EL

Either the hose is clogged or to long (should not exceed 48" in length an be straight as it slopes down to the floor). In addition, the hose connection on the unit may be partially clogged, as well as the interior tubing. When that happens, water is diverted to the bucket. To unclog it follow the directions below.

Turn the unit OFF & unplug it.

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hose connection hole & tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. reconnect the hose to the unit, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose for increased water flow.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e.a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
.

Hope this helps you solve the problem & thanks for choosing FixYa.

Bucket always says full but

This generally occurs for two reasons.

1. The float valve in the top of the bucket (if yours is so equipped) is stuck in the 'UP' position. Jiggle the arm of the float valve to get it to return to the 'DOWN' position.

2. Reinstall the bucket "squarely" from top to bottom. into the holder. It must make firm contact with the Bucket Safety Removal Switch on the back wall of the bucket holder. The bucket should not tilt down at the bottom, if installed properly.

I hope this helped you to solve the problem and thanks for choosing FixYa.

WE have a gold star

Sounds like you're going to need a new bucket & float, if you want to continue to use the dehumidifier in any thing other than continual hose draining mode. Here's a link to where you can find a replacement bucket w/ the float valve included. http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/dehumidifiers/partinfo.php?partsid=276540

How do i get the

It appears that either the drain dose you're using is clogged or the hose connection on the unit and it internal tubing is clogged. When this happens, water is diverted back to the bucket.

The hose is easy to check and solve because you can disconnect it and look tru it. Remember, the hose should be no longer than 5 feet.

To clear the hose connection and internal tubing, do the following:

Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing. Reinstall the drain hose, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity extraction level to 35% or Maximum if you have a manually controlled unit. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor the hose for water flow. Keep in mind, water drainage relies entirely on gravity. The hose should slope down and away from the unit, without kinks & bends.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you may use something similar ( i.e. a long pipe cleaner), but NO wire coat hangers
).

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Need a replacement cord for my dh65e dehumidifier

If you're really careful and persistent, you could probably do it. The real key, is don't remove the old cord from the uni, until you have the new one, That way, you'll see which leads fit where.

Here's a link to where you may can find the cord. http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/airconditioners/goldstar/goldstar-other-parts.html

I hope this helped you.
