Goldstar DH504EL Dehumidifier - Page 8 Questions & Answers
No Water
Check to see if the coils are cooling down. When the coils are cooling down, they make condensation on them, which is moisture from the air. This moisture drops down in to the tray. This is the water that is accumulated.
If the coils are not getting cold, this can be a problem with the workings of the cooling system. There are a number of hoses, pipes, the compressor, evaporator, and other parts involved that can have a problem. It is also possible that the gas has leaked out of the cooling system due to a leak that has formed.
If the compressor is not starting up, this can also be from a defective humidistat, or there is a fault contiditon that put it in to a protection mode.

Dehumidifier ices up
Hi,
Might it be that the unit simply needs a full thorough
cleaning including the tiny spaces between fins? Dust can gather and
block air passage on many of the components of a dehumidifier not only
on the filter. in some extreme cases, the unit could be undercharged
(insufficient) coolant. A service shop engaged in the business of
cleaning and repairing air conditioners should also be able to work on
your unit.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
Dehumidifier runs loud
What is the temperature in the space where you are operating thsi dehumidifier? When you first start a refrigerating system some refrigerant may have condensed into the compressor oil. When the compressor starts the pressure in it drops rapidly. The oil boils and some passes through the compressor valves. After a few minutes of operation this condition normally corrects itself.
My 2 year old dehumidifier
How much moisture a dehumidifier can remove from the air is directly related to temperature and dew point. Check the relative humidity in the space where it is located.

Goldstar dehumidifier
Hi,
Two possibilities:
1. Continuous running and there is water coming out of the unit to the floor drain; the unit is just doing its job. It is probably just that there is that much humidity in the room;
2. the sensors are faulty or were bypassed during the repair - the sensor would be testing the water coming out, if there is water, the unit continues to work, if none, then it shuts off. Most would also have an overfill float switch, again which could be bypassed, that likewise control whether the unit will continue to run or stop.

Freeze up
Usually due to dirty filters or maybe a drain tube blocked.. Or sometimes the casing is damaged & the lining has moisture in it. Therefore when the device is running, it freezes the moisture in the lining.. If it's the drain tube, you might be able to clean it with a long bit of wire & some bleach.. That can kill any mold thats grown in the drain.. Let me know how you go..
Dehumifier problem
Have you checked to see that fill bucket has been placed back in correct position/orientation?
Another question
I have the same problem. I believe it is because it has a refrigerent leak. When there is little refrigerent, the begining of the coil will freeze up. I would really suggest calling the manufacturer. It is defintely something to do with this specific model
Is a gold star dehumidifier supose to be noise
I can't hear YOUR dehumidifier and can't tell if it's out of the ordinary, but dehumidifiers have all the same internal parts as a refrigerator with the addition of a fan to blow air through the coils to keep them from freezing up. They do tend to be a bit noisy.
