I have a Goldstar GHD30

Check the condensate collection bucket. If the bucket is not inserted correctly the dehumidifier might think the bucket is full and thus not turn on.

Humidifier says "bucket full", not using bucket have hose attached

Hi,

Offhand, two possibilities:
1. erroneous sensor reading(s) causing system to respond likewise erroneously; and/or
2. firmware/software glitch.

Initially, I would suggest a full hard reset, that is unplug from the mains for an hour or so. This would normally revert the unit back to factory default (assuming no hardware problem). Additionally, you may want to check the sensor(s) like the a bucket full sensor often would be a float switch of some kind.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

GoldStar DH504EL Dehumidifier

Your dehumidifier should have come with a tube which would allow you to do this very easily. I beleive the part number is 5214A20027B.

Goldstar dehumidifier

The hose connector does not drain the bucket, it drains the condensate before it enters the bucket. Tube passes through back of dehumidifier by the cord wrap area. (you may have to remove a small cover)

Goldstar dehumidifier won't stay on

Check the relative humidity in the room or space where you are operating the dehumidifier. Damp feeling and actual humidity level are two separated items. Humidifiers will run for a few minutes until it is signaled that the humidity is already low enough and then shut down.

Fan fixed but evaporator solenoid keeps activating at times

the purpose of the valve is to de-ice the evaporator and the valve is turned on by a timer usually. in normal operation, the evaporator builds up with ice (that is how water is extracted). when the valve operates, to put it simply, the hot gas is routed to the evaporator and hence melts the ice off

Bad fan motor on DH504ELY5?

problem fixed with the fan motor not running.

heres how i did it for anyone who experiences the same problem

1.) open back of unit(6 screws and pop tabs)

2.) with back cover open youll have access to compressor and fan-locate the blower assembly and remove the nut on it i used a 3/8 wrench from dollartree and rotated the blower fan while turning-its plastic be careful and remember righty tighty lefty loosey)

3.) with fan assembly off youll see the motor with 2 phillips head screws-taking these screws out with a power screwdriver allows the bearing assembly closest to the fan assembly, shaft, armeture and motor assembly to come out leaving rear bearing assembly attached to chassis

4.) once the motor assembly is completely out gently rest it against the fan hole and cut the silver tape being careful to ONLY cut the silver tape and the first white tape strip.

5.) youll see 3 wires and some insulator sleeves covering them leave everything alone except the ORANGE wire this wire attaches to the thermal fuse than to the windings
CAREFULLY heat up your soldering iron and remove the orange to thermal fuse connection than carefully thermal fuse to windings its a bit of a pain but can be done with patience

6.) remove original thermal fuse noting EXACTLY where original is placed on windings-it will have a small tape strip on it. replace it with one of EXACT OR NEAR THERMAL RATINGS a good choice is radioshack 270-1322. this thermal fuse is ratyed 10 amps max. but remember thermal fuses go by degree of heat and not by amp rating unless the amperage is in excess to melt the thermal material inside-my original fuse was 2 amps and 130 degrees celcius new fuse was 129degrees but plus minus 2 degrees so its a good choice and costs under 2 dollars

7.) place a heatsink clip or needlenose pliers between thermal fuse and solder connections BEFORE YOU SOLDER IT IN PLACE this prevents your 700 degree f iron from melting the fuse(remember its thermal not amperage were talking about here)
solder orange to thermal fuse with plastic extension than flat end to winding wire exactly opposite of how removed

8.) tape fuse in ORIGINAL LOCATION AS OLD FUSE i used scotch tape, place the thermal white protector piece on orange to fuse wire and push everything back down in original places-there should be no contact with any other wires etc. it will cause a fire

9.) once fuse is in place push tape you cut earlier back on and put 2 or 3 small scotch tape pieces of good length to secure the innards, lube the rear bearing of motor using vasoline- a few dollups will do it do the same for front slide motor winding assembly holding it in place than replace armeture with front bearing attaches as they came out secure the 2 screws back in place, put fan blade assembly back on(its keyed) secure nut and reassemble back

if you did everything correctly it will work like new just remember this time CLEAN YOUR FILTER SCREEN REGULARILY lol its critical for proper fan cooling

that should do it:)

Goldstar DH504EL Dehumidifier

hey i just got paid by some guy to haul away a broken fan(currently fixing) DH504ELY5 dehumidifier on my model with bucket removed front facing you reach to the far right the orfice there drains to the bucket id only assume just get the proper od hose(even clear) from a hardware store attach it and it should be fine- take back panel off(plastic 6 screws and youll have to gently pry the "clips" out of the steel back-dont worry if one breaks the screws will still keep the back on on reassembly) there is a hole with a foam kinda adhesive tape over it it is perforated for the purpose of an external hose feed it through there and out of the hole thats in the middle of where the power cord winds up for storage-all will be a straight shot on reassembly no twists or turns try that should do the trick and you can keep the bucket on there:)

Royal sovereign DDH400C not working

Hi.
You haven't specified your location so I don't know what domestic power plugs look like in your neck of the woods. I'm in Scotland. If there is a replaceable fuse in the power plug I would check that, and any screws that secure the wire ends to the plug terminals.

There is a microswitch in there somewhere which is triggered by the bucket being correctly installed and not full. If that isn't happy then the machine probably wont run.

There's a couple of things to start with.
If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my guessing skills :-)
If they do not, please add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D

Model DH404e/gd40e

Hi,
It might be worth checking the intake screen to make sure it isn't clogged with fluff. Also, the on / off switching is often linked in with an ice-detector and a humidity sensor and if either of these have come loose from where they should be problems may arise.
One rather unlikely possibility, from your description of the fault, is that the microswitch for the "bucket full" detector is defective.

I have one machine with a defective humidity sensor and it will only run when I select "continuous" running as opposed to "60% humidity".

Ice on coils

The short answer is "yes but maybe not for much longer!"

If the bucket is filling up with water it's probably working OK. Have you selected "continuous" instead of, say 60% ?

If the bucket isn't filling up with water then maybe the intake filter is clogged with fluff, preventing new moist air from getting to the cold coils and being extracted. Or maybe the fan isn't running?

I hope this info will be a useful starting point for you.
