Just bought a fuji j10 digital camera and when i connect it to my macbook using the included USB cable, it isn't recognised. I have tried using the included finepix viewer software and it still isn't recognised. I do everyhting i'm supposed to: My SD card has been formatted, the camera is in USB mode when connected. It just won't recognise it.
How can i get my photos onto my mc without having to buy a memory card reader?
Many thanks, HKA
I had the same problem with my camera & mac. I got this off the Fuji site and it worked for me:
If images cannot be downloaded from the camera to a Macintosh, check the status of the camera and the Macintosh and resolve the problem accordingly.
1) Check the status of the camera and Macintosh.
1. Connect your camera to the Macintosh and turn the camera on.
2. Open the "Applications" folder on the Macintosh HD.
3. Double-click "Image Capture".
* If the "Imaging device not connected" message appears, follow the steps described in [Checking the connection between the camera and PC].
4. Select "Preferences" from the "Image Capture" menu.
5. The procedure for using the Image Capture Preferences window differs depending on the OS version used. Use the correct procedure for your version of Mac OS.
- Mac OS 10.4: Click "General" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.3: Click "Camera" in the Image Capture Preferences window.
- Mac OS 10.2: Simply proceed to the next step.
6. In "Items launched at camera connection", select "FPVBridge" and then click the [OK] button.
* If FPVBridge is not among the displayed items, follow the steps in [Displaying FPVBridge] below.
7. Quit "Image Capture".
If you implement the above procedure up to step 6, FinePix Viewer launches automatically.
* To stop FinePix Viewer from launching automatically, follow the steps in [FinePix Viewer Setup] below.

i dropped my digital camera and now the zoom is stuck, it wont come all the way out or go back in either, is there anyway of fixing this as i can no longer take photos with my camera because it comes up with zoom error
Hey, my husband just fixed it! You just wiggle/bend the zoom lens, and you feel a "pop", and then the zoom retracts and you're fine! I was afraid to "break" it, but someone on vacation had the same problem and told him this solution a few weeks ago. So don't be afraid to use a little force-at least, in our case, it worked! Good luck.

keep geting frame no. full error. unable to download any pictures or get camara to be reconized by computer
Hi!
In case you haven't sorted this out yet.
To fix this go into Menu ---> Setup. From there there's a Frame Number setting. It is normally set to: Continuous. The other option is: Renew which evidently simply resets the picture count. After selecting Renew the error message disappears and the camera works perfectly again.
Great little camera!

The LCD screen has a black spot in the middle and looks like it is cracked on the interior. Exterior is fine, takes pictures, I just can't see anything. Is there a solution or should I just chuck it?
you should replace the lcd screen from an authorized service center. or you can buy the lcd screen alone from ebay and find someone to replace it .remember

You can also ring them or send the waranty card in. If you bought it in Australia and have the reciept this will be all you need if you have a problem in the future. NB for your protection its not wise put your name and address on web sites as you have here. It best to remove it if can.

Can the battery be charged while still in the camera?
Nope. Gotta use the supplied external charger. Won't charge via USB, if that's what you are hoping.

I have a Fuji FinePix S2700HD camera and it will not upload pictures. The computer recognizes the camera but not the pictures. I uploaded my pictures from my printer. Geek Squad said it might be a software issue because they couldn't get it to work either. The camera is brand new and they already exchanged once. Any suggestions, it shows camera is hooked up but then asks what program would I like to run it under and provides no choices, just a blank box labeled with the camera name and model. Thank you
I have the same exact problem and I found something on their website (Fuji) that says its a firmware update that is supposed to address "improved handling of playback of images". I am about to download it. The link is right here. It gives specific set of instructions that you will want to follow carefully so as not to damage your camera, as some firmware can. -- here is the site: http://www.fujifilm.com/support/digital_cameras/software/firmware/s/finepix_s2500hd/fupd.html

Fuji finepix j30 has a zoom error. how do i fix it?
Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair
center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.
You can also have a look at THIS link.
Hope
the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need
any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you
found this helpful.
Regards
Andrea
