What does 'Write Protect' mean and how do I get rid of it?

That means that your SD card (or whichever memory card you use) is write protected and you cannot edit the card's content in any way.

Take your memory card out of the camera and plug it into your computer. There should be a place for you to change the memory card's protections that way. Sometimes, as with USB drives, there might be a small sliding lock physically located on the card which will also write protect the device.

Write protect

Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Camera will not down load pictures to computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

A735 / A835 SERVICE NOTICE: BATTERY INDICATOR METER
Dear GE Valued Customer,
There have been reported incidents that the battery indicator meter of some GE A735 and A835 digital cameras may be under-reporting battery levels on certain types of batteries, and accordingly, we have released a firmware update to reset the battery indicator meter.
We extend our sincerest apologies for any inconveniences that this may have caused you, and we make every effort to achieve the highest levels of quality possible and request your continued support. Should you need any assistance, please contact us at 1-800-730-6597.
Symptoms and Cause
In certain units, the voltage of fully charged batteries may be under-reported by the camera’s battery meter, which causes the batteries to be registered as only 1/3 power, or in some cases, zero power (displayed on the LCD screen as "Power Exhausted").
Resolution
The battery indicator meter can be reset by following the instructions below to install the latest firmware to your camera.
