if it's 6A00 then theres a problem with the cleaning unit where the printhead parks. Look for any paper scraps in that area, 6000 is a paper feed error saying something may have fallen in stopping the paper transport roller.

Ink Carts do act finicky at times. Especially Canon carts. In many cases, the ink carts have a small fuse built into the back of the cartridge that opens up if the cart has been removed for any reason. Replacement Carts come with the fused portion reset, thus when you insert it into the printer, it works great. If the cart is FULL, it still may not be observed as full or new by the Printer itself. Is there ink in the cartridge? If so you may remove the print head and take a mixture of 1oz. ammonia and 8 oz. water (roughly 180 degrees) and let it soak for 30 minutes. If you see some cyan ink come out you are on your way. Now completely dry the head being careful of the nozzles. I usually use an air duster can to blow off and let stand for a few minutes. Good luvk.
