Canon MX850 Large Black Ink Cartridge - PGI-5BK problem
Just bought new MX318 one chamber gets finished after a few pages. No indicator for finished ink. One compartment of Ink cartridge looks empty the other still full. Tried cleening process but no improvement. Replaced Cartridge but it seems to behave the same as the first after a few prints.
Remove cyan ink from hands
Best thing I have found to remove ink from hand is rubbing alcohol. Follow up with some hand lotion, since the alcohol will dry your hands out.
My Cannon Mx850 Printer has
I had the same problem after a paper jam. I removed all the paper and still had a same error. I read around the internet and ran into other Canon printers with similar problems. The error is caused by the print clean mechanism getting stuck. The suggested solution for other Canon printers also worked allowing me to fix my printer. First thing I did was turn off my printer. Second is to open the top cover allowing me access to the print cartridge area. With the power off, you can pull the printer cartridge carridge from the right of the printer to the left. Once you do that, look into the area in the right where the print carridge was and you will see two sponges in the bottom of the printer. Behind them to the left is a little mechanism that moves over the to clean them, I gently gave it a pull and it moved a little forward. I closed the printer and turned it back on. Error went away and it's working fine again.
Hope this helps!

It is saying that the
This printer has an ink absorber that takes in ink during the printing and print head cleaning processes. The cleaning process is necessary in order to keep the print head nozzles from becoming clogged. Over the life of the printer, the amount of ink that the ink absorber has absorbed is calculated by the printer. Eventually, after substantial use, the printer will enter an error condition when the ink absorber is nearly full. At this point, printing is still possible. Press the button to cancel the error. You will still be able to print for a short period. To protect the printer from damage, you will not be able to print at all once the ink absorber is full.
Canon recommends having the printer serviced before the absorber becomes full. There are many "do-it-yourself" Web sites that offer instructions for making this repair. Replacing the ink absorber is a complicated and potentially messy procedure. Even if the ink absorber is successfully changed, the ink absorber counter must be reset. Be aware that if you attempt this procedure, it is at your own risk. I will not advise you as it is not a permanent solution.
I have replaced the Print
yes sir you need to replace the tank and the printhead once you have use an improper ink...to have the correct color quality when printing.
MX 850
b200 error. Started
Hi sakima,
This error code indicates a Voltage High Error of the Canon printer. The service manual write this, the internal temperature exceeded the specified value.
- Print head
- Carriage unit
- Logic board
Solutions:
1. Try using a different power outlet and see if that works and if that doesn't work try cleaning the print head:
2. Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. If for some reason it does not follow these instructions:
* Unplug the printer
* Manually slide the carriage over until you can get the ink cartridges out.
3. Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
4. Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water or a mix of hot water and alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
5. Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab
6. Allow to dry and replace the cartridges
7. Try to print something
If it doesn't fix the error then you need to replace the print head, 90% the print head is the problem. If the problem persist then the board inside of the printer is faulty and you will have to replace it.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.
I have a Canon PIXMA
Hi
Error 5100 on canon is a Carriage Home Position
Error. Try reseating the printer cartridges. If that doesn't help make sure
there is no paper stopping the carriage from moving right to left. Try cleaning
the plastic strip (encoder strip, behind the carriage) that runs the length of
the carriage, it may be contaminated. Use alcohol and a swab (Q-tip) to clean.
Before cleaning unplug it from the power supply. Hope this helps...please post
back for further assistance.

I do not know the Canon MX 850 but it seems like your printer is set to default to high quality printing. Check the setting in your Canon software for something like this.
