I believe that you need to take ownership of the files and folders.
Select one of the folders that you are being denited access.
Make sure the account you are using is listed with at least Modify permission. (You can check your logon account name by typing "set" at the command prompt)
Right click and select Properties
Select Advanced
Select Owner
Select Edit
Add the account you are currently using
Check the box that says "Replace owner on subcontainers...
Close all of the windows you opened by selecting OK.

I have a acer aspire 4520 notebook computer and
Okay, Here's the deal..... I recently had the same problems with my friends' Acer Extensa laptop and here's what I did to fix it. I narrowed the issue down to two culprits 1. Overheating, 2. Defective Motherboard. I have fixed the problem but I takes time, patience and some technical ability which may not be available to some. :(
(Swapping out the motherboard MAY fix the problem but if the defect is in the manufacturing process then the problems could return). Here's how I fixed it...
While in the process of disassembly I noticed a small electrolytic capacitor that had seemingly broken off and had become wedged between the frame (very lucky! this gave me the clue I was looking for!). This made me think that it had broken off the motherboard. I proceeded to disassemble the laptop and found the location of the missing capacitor (there are two located right next to each other on the board) and was able to re solder the capacitor back onto the motherboard (could it be a manufacturing processing defect thats causing these to break loose? ). Mine was broken off due to what looked like bad solder joints. Your capacitors could still be attached but have weak solder connections. Also while i had access to the motherboard, I used the opportunity to clean and re apply the heat sink compound to the CPU and thoroughly clean the fan vents. I then reassembled the laptop and EVERYTHING has been running fine now for the last 3 days. Total time was about 4hrs and it cost NOTHING to repair. GOOD LUCK :)

First thing i would try,
right after your computer finishes post, start pressing the F8 key.
This should take you to the windows startup menu.
look for the option that says restore last know good configuration.
highlight that selection using the arrow keys and then press enter.
if that doesnt allow you to boot, at this point a system rollback to a previous restore point would correct this problem.
i wont go into the procedure now, but if you need further help just comment in here.
hope this helps
My acer aspire 4520 will not play or record dvd's.
Hi there your system does not find any DVD detector software. So you have to install it 1st. Then you can play & record DVD. I suggest you install NERO CD/DVD writer software & after that when you put DVD in your rom its will detect & start work.
Thanks & waiting for your reply.
I cannot log in the system,.
A sure fix. You simply can't do it. But never fear,

Screen become black but laptop still turn on
Try draining the flea power first:
1. Remove the battery and ac adapter
2. Press and hold the power button for at least 10sec.
3. Put back the battery and ac adapter
4. Turn on the computer
Check if it will load to windows, if not, there could be a problem with windows. Try startup repair on advanced boot options. Hope this helps.
