Hello super_makia You aren' t telling us what OS you are using . Under Wondows 7 , go to Start \ Devices and printers . Under W XP , go to start \ Settings \ Printers and faxes . If you don't see your device in one of those places , you have a driver issue that you can solve by reinstalling the driver . Don' t have the install disc ? Download the driver from here after having selected the correct OS : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3390949&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us Best regards , fanaudi .
I had the same problem with my HP F4280. Go into control panel, click on devices and printers, then click on the HP F4280. An option to scan will come up, including a preview option so you can select the area of the scan. It'll work fine if you do it this way instead of pressing the scan button.
Then make a shortcut to the printer on your desktop so the next time you want to scan you just click on the shortcut
Insert the setup disk in your CD/DVD drive. Choose to view the files in Explorer. Scroll down to the file "Setup," which is identified as an application.
Right-click the file and select "Properties." Click the "Compatibility" tab at the top of the resulting window.
Check off "Run this program in compatability mode for:" and choose "Windows Vista" from the pop-up menu.
ALSO check "Run this program as administrator" at the bottom of the window.
Please try this solution.
Remove the USB cable into the printer and leave the printer on. Remove all the cartridges. Close the cartridge door and wait for the INSERT INK MESSAGE to appear. Disconnect the power cable and from the power source supply. Move the carriage using your hand from the original position to the other side of the printer and then move it back to original position. Wait for couple of minutes Reconnect power cord and turn on the printer. Return all the ink cartridges and close the door. Wait for the calibration process. Print the test page to check if it working. Reconnect the USB cable and try to print again.
