The Pixma MP210 does not support a wireless connection. It has a USB port. Some wireless routers do have USB ports and can thus share the printer. Similarly, there are print server options that can be connected to the USB port. However, these will not work with the scanner functions of the all-in-one. Also you would need to confirm that the print server you choose is compatible with the Pixma MP210. The fastest way to print right now is to connect the USB cord to the laptop. Wait for the drivers to be installed and then send the file to the printer. Moving the cable will let both computers use the scanner features of the all-in-one. A manual USB A/B switch might allow you to share the printer with fewer chances for a damaged USB cable. However, these usually don't support the scanner. Scanning requires bi-directional communication between the printer and the computer. A bad USB cable can turn an all-in-one into a single function printer with a direct USB connection. Once the MP210 driver is on both systems and they are connected to the same network, you may be able to set up the desktop as a print server for the laptop. This will depend on the OS on both systems. Something like the Windows Homegroup easily allows printer sharing when enabled for systems with Windows 7 and newer on a private network. Both systems need to join the same homegroup. One system starts the homegroup. Then you have to type in the password on the second computer. This works even with one system connected to the wireless network and the other connected to a wired port on the router. On Vista and XP, you could enable printer sharing as well in the Network and Sharing center. Replace the cord. Also check the wall socket with a multi-meter. Try different wall socket.

1. In Windows: Go to Start>Devices and Printers>Right click on your default printer. Select printing preferences.

2. In the area that reads: Additional Features in the middle of the window, you'll see a selection that reads: Grayscale Printing Put a check in that box. This will print everything in black and white.

3. Go down to the bottom of that window and put a check on the box that reads: Always print with Current Settings.

4. Click Apply

5. Click OK.

Once you are just printing in black and white, the only cartridge you will have to replace is black ink-unless you change it back to color in the future-then you will have to replace the color cartridge as well when it is low.

Hi. When you are printing in black but "black and white" is not selected in the printer "properties", the printer will use some of your colored ink to print grays. If the black ink goes out, it will give you an error and will not print using colored ink even if you are printing black only. Hope this helps.

If the printer has not been used the ink cartridge may be dried/clogged. This happens when ink does not flow for long periods of time. The cartridge may be full of ink (therefore, not giving low ink level warnings) but unable to flow due to clogged pathways. Try a new ink cartridge and that should fix your problem!

• Insert the documents you want to scan into the document feeder.
• Press scan on the printer.
