TV goes to blank screen standby after one second of normal functioning green power light on. When in standby state, the TV is blank like it's off and the red standby light blinks FOUR times.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

How do i hook external speakers to sony bravia

The proper way to do this would be to use the audio output from the TV, either analogue left and right or the optical port, and send it into an dedicated amplifier or AV receiver. You can then use the amplifier or receiver to power the external speakers. If you are using a dedicated amplifier with no volume control you will want to change the audio output setting on the TV to "variable out" as oppose to its current "fixed out"settings. You can find this in the TV menu, usually under the audio settings. This will allow you to use the current TV remote to adjust the audio volume coming out of the external speakers.

Left side is dark and right side is good

The LCD sets use backlights and also a pair (some models combine both into one unit) of inverters- one drives left side and the other right side. You could have a bad inverter (some versions call it T-con) or even a bad display panel(main screen unit). In most cases this is not a do it yourself repair.

I have a 46" Sony Bravia TV that has colored verticle lines about 2-3" wide just left of center.

Hi, Yor tv have problem with T con board. T con board is one which drives the pixels of the LCD panel. If any of the driver satge in the T con board is faulty then this problem can occur. Some times bad contacts on the connections of the t con board can cause same problem. Remove the tv and find out the t con bard. Remove the connections to it and the reconnect the connections. Then check, if the problem remains the same then the tv need a new T con board. You have didn't mentaioned any model number of your tv. So it is not possible to show you exactly how T con board looks. Normally in all lcd tvs the tcon board is place on the bottom or top middile position. Which will be cover with metal cover or aluminium foil. Here I have added a link which will lead you to the picture of T con board for toshiba.( Not exact one) T con http://electro-medical.blogspot.in/

My sony kdl 46 turn on tv green light for few sec then stnby light flashes 2 times , what does that mean

I checked on the schematic, there is a self diagnostic mode for the tv accessed with the remote control. If the TV does not turn on I would highly recommend finding a local reputable service facility as this might be completely a fault inside the TV. https://www.encompassparts.com/shop/model_research_docs/?file=/SON/sm/KDL46V4100.pdf Please check page 12 for self diagnostic procedure.

The time controller ( t-con ) has a defect. There is a small IC called AS15-F which must be replaced. Check the red circle at the upper left corner. 25500908-cendhqfqtqtw1sgrl0rsy1hi-3-0.jpg
