LG 50PG20 50 in. Plasma HDTV - Page 8 - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Where can I buy a new power board for my Plasma LG
I had the same problem and opted to take the board out and replace the caps. They were all the same capacitance. Cost me $6.61 for 10 new caps (needed 9, 10 was cheaper). If you can solder, watch the capacitor videos on YouTube and give it a go.
There is a replacement for the original. You can try http://www.partstore.com/Model/LG+Electronics+Incorporated/LG+Electronics%2fZenith/50PG20.aspx?p=1&z=50&c=6e080ee60c7dbeec930c9d72f2d3d6f7&bs=Category&bd=Asc&ms=Category&md=Asc&k=&on=

Open the back of the TV and look for bulging/busted (oozing goo) capacitors on your power board. I just replaced 9 of them for $6.61 and the TV is just like new. There are plenty of videos on YouTube about removing and soldering caps.
I have an LG 50PG20. There was just a power surge,
You should check the capacitors on the power supply board and others. There were nine bulging/busted caps on my power board that I just replaced for $6.61. Works just like new! Someone who knows how to solder can do it.

As you say the remote is working now and then, the fault should be with the remote only.

HI I HAVE A LG50PG20 THE SOUND IN THE TV SPEAKERS ...
That is the correct function of the SIMPLINK.
If you look at the bottom of the page of #44 in your user LG TV manual, you can read about the SIMPLINK issue.
“When you select a device with a home theater functionality, the sound output automatically switches to the home theater speakers.
You can turn off the SIMPLINK function to stop this issue. Go to "Menu", select the white "Toolbox", and look down and you will see the SIMPLINK to change its ON/OFF option.
Good Luck.

When i try to turn on the tv it wont come on and
Sounds like either a loose connection suspected from the fault worsening when you moved it, or a dry solder joint on one of the pcbs. It could also be a dry capacitor on the power supply board shown by bulging tops on the capacitor. It could be that when mounted on the wall, the tv was located near a source of heat and this heat helped the low value capacitors to warm up and work. Either way it will be one of these 3 possible solutions.
