Dx-lcd-19- power supply failure....leaking caps

The trick is to try and melt the solder holding both leads at the same time by quickly switching the soldering iron back and forth from one to the other and a bit of wiggling the capacitor from the top.

There is often also some glue holding the top side of the capacitor steady so just peel what you can right off and pull hard enough to break the remaining glue's grip once the solder joint is loose.

Good luck and please post back if this helps at all.

Leaky electrolytic capacitor will affect the performance of the supply once sense by the processor it will automatically shuts down the unit. The symptom will get worst if did not replaced the defective capacitor. Its quite technical and not diy so I've advice you to look for a qualified technician to isolate the problem.

But before that don't forget to check the warranty of your unit. Avail it if it is still under warranty, the manufacturer/authorized service center will fix it for you for free or a little charged only.

What is colour temperature?

Colour temperature. The higher the K number the more blue and brighter the glare. The lower the K number the softer the light and more pink in the colour. The light colour can be explained by use of a strip lamp, (flourescent lamp).
The warm white strip lamp used in offices have a temperature of 2500K. The new type "energy saving" lamps have a temperature of 2800K and are whiter and have more of the blue spectrum in them.
I hope that helps.

The screen on my lg 50" plasma went white and

The power supply has obviously failed. An Authorized LG agent will advise on repair cost. If it is just the Power Supply it may be not too bad but un authorized technicians do tend to hike the prices up to cover the lack of experience.
Write a nice letter to LG, they may well listen. It's worth a try depending on where your location is. Lean on the age of the set and that you are very dissapointed that such a good named product should have failed so soon.
Good luck.

Turned white and wont turn

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

I have ATT U-verse, (it's own remote). Using the

You will have to access the service menu. From it, you can reduce the luminance of the red and green bands.

To enter the menu, press the menu button the TV panel and hold it down then press the menu button the remote simultaneously.
In a few seconds, you will be prompted for a 4 digit password.
The password is 0000. Enter it with the remote.

There are two menus that will alternate upon entering it with this method, which one comes up depends on the last time the service menu was entered if it ever was.

You can navigate the menu with the remote. Find the selections labeled for R G B. This stands for red, green and blue. There will be more than one input available for these selections, make sure you select the input that your ATT-U-verse is connected to by toggling through the menus.

Adjusting your red and green;
After finding your proper input and your adjustments for RGB with that input, toggle down to the selections labeled as RGB gain. Reduce the numbered value by 2 or 3 points for R and G and press enter on the remote. Then press menu. This will return you to your input currently use, preferably the input you are adjusting. Using the same picture every time, such as a freeze frame picture that was not to your liking, repeat this process until you are satisfied.
Keep in mind that all colors will interact together. If you find that after making the R and G adjustments together tends to make your red tones appear to be too muted or more of a purple hue, return to the service menu as I described above and reduce the B (blue).

Going by eye is quite inaccurate but however; for a picture that isn't far off from your preference changing these values by only few points in the Gain channel will not make any drastic differences.

For a more accurate picture for your input in question, I recommend a monitor calibration tool such as the Spyder 3 TV. You could alternatively use a DVD based software such as Avia, but that is for your DVD input...in that case you could simply use the settings from that calibration for your other inputs by manually copying them and that may work too. The Spyder is my best consumer based recommendation short of a professional calibration for your ATT U-verse input, the DVD is second but both are much much better than the naked eye.

Please Help! We have LG Plasmas and both TV's when

Hello.
You could have problem with power supply or sustain board.
If problem was developing slowly ( it was taking longer for TV to turn on, sometimes several attempts pushing power button on remote or set) than it is most definitely Power Supply problem that involved bad capacitors. If problem happened suddenly - it could be either or both boards involved.
I would recommend professional to diagnose it. If your TV is smaller than 40" - just forget about it and invest in new one. Repair will not be cost-effective.
Regards.

LG plasma tv no sound no picture, green light on

Sounds like a failed or at least failing power supply / power board inside the TV. Unfortunately this is a very difficult repair, and unless you are an electrician I would not recommend attempting it. You will need to contact a local TV repair person in your area. This is actually the most common problem with this type of TV, I see it every day, it just happens - sometimes with new TVs and sometimes it takes many years for it to happen.

If you think it may still be under warranty please contact the manufacturer to file an RMA. If you happened to purchase the TV with a major credit card (not a debit card) there is a good chance it may still be under the free extended warranty most credit cards place on electronics. Please contact your credit card company to inquire if they do this, and they will be able to file the claim and get you a refund for the TV.

If you want to attempt the repair yourself please let me know and I will get you the part number and a place you can purchase it from for what you need.

So sorry that I don't have better news but it is definitely a power issue internally.

Thanks
