Not widescreen on regular channels only hd channels
Sounds like a setting in the cable or satellite box or how you have the TV connected. Using HDMI it should resize automatically, but again it could be a simple setting in the cable/satellite box or in the TV itself.
Has sound but no picture
Bad caps in power supply,Crack or splits on top of cap or leaking, Check value of caps in power supply.
Poor color quality
If you are using the component input the red plug could be loose at back of TV or Cable box or bad red plug/wire, try another input to see if color is ok on a video game or dvd player, if it is ok on another input it's probably not the TV but your source or wires
Tv has sound but no picture
Usually a shorted Y-driver/buffer board( skinny boards on left edge) one or both, don't run this model TV with these boards unplugged. Also less likely but possible is bad Y-sustain board (bigger board on left side)
Where are the fuses on the LG 50 pg20
It can be located at the main power regulator board, y-sustain board and some other boards. There is not only one fuse used. Each section circuit is protected by a fuse.
Power at plug to first control board nothing else
i have the same problem, I've been tapping the back of the tv by the power supply and it was been working, the red light comes on in the front and i'm able to turn the tv on, has anyone been able to figure out what the deal is with this

ive heard of the same problem... call your cable company, because xfinity told me to do a certain set of things, and it worked after that.

White dots across screen
Sounds like sparkles, this can be resolved with a software update or replacement of either the Control board & / or the Y & Z sustain board. In extreme cases the screen replacement is the only remedy.

This will be a fault either with the screen itself (horizontal lines)or sometimes the flat ribbon cable can have a poor contact which drives this area of the screen. Majority of the time this fault is only cured by screen replacement.
