Why aren't my hdmi ports connecting
are you sure that your hdmi cables are good? the first thing i would do is get one that you know is good and plug it in to your tv and to something else, and make sure both are on, and see if it works, if that don't work then you prob have a problem with your source.
Lg lcd can a bad tcon board kill all power
Yes , it can be a short on the board that will ask the SMPS unit to protect the power so as to switch off. So even with a multi-meter check you will be able to trace the short on the board, the drivers or any capacitor that is cutting off the power which must solve the issue.
Tv will not power on
Possible failure in the inverter section as the power seems to trip off as a protect function. It will be best to isolate the inverter section and see if the power build up , if so there can be a short in the inverter section possibly the drivers.Check the secondary voltages from the power supply without load and then with load, the processor seems to work as the stand by is triggered and then it shut off on protection.Check by isolation.
37LG50 turns on automatically.

I have an LG Flat
Hi,
All Plasma and LCD TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times reseating the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them,.
Good luck in solving the problem and do take care because it contains high voltages.
