The set has a problem that is likely power related===consider having a shop or a tech look at it---cannot wish it away, someone will have to open and check things to even have a chance to fix this.

I would have the power supply caps checked first. If the power supply checks ok, I would suspect a main board failure.

If you have tried using different input devices, looked for loose contactsin power outlet, RC Jack, cable and connectors, the TV might need service.

Something is stopping the relays from starting up the TV. This will be a fault either in the power supply board or the microprocessor ICs or with the inverter board. This would need to be taken to a service repairer to diagnose the problem.

Don't do it unless you have a issue that the firmware fixes or directly addresses.. Seen more than one person do this and suddenly new issues appear or the set does not even work--just because it can be done does not mean do it.

I see so many here with no sound/nopicture issues:ISSUES: 1. IF sound main fuse/s are good.2. If no power or standby check main fuse, standby power supply and any signsof damage you can see---burnt parts etc.3. almost all these sets the troubleshooting involves checking voltages on the main power board to narrow down theproblem.4. Be safe and if you do not know what you are doing don't open the set.Answers to issues:1. RE:fuses---if a blown fuse is found get a good replacement(not the genericones like Radio Shack). Many fuses are special even aside from amperage--Don'tput a higher rated amperage fuse in the set for any reason.2. RE: power supply in set: if total dead aside from main fuse the set uses astandby power supply that runs 7/24 and a main supply (some are combined andsome not.Here aside from checking fuses you want to examine all the filter caps on thepower/standby to see if any are puffed up or buldged up in some fashion--Iattach a photo of a good one---top should be silver metal and PERFECTLY flatand have no brown material coming out on top or bottom.What happens in the standby area is they use caps with too low a voltage rating(saves money) which causes them to fail in a year or two---the standby runs7/24 and the heat dries out the caps and they fail.3. Trouble shooting consists of the above and then at some point you have to buyand try a board to see if it fixes it or not.4. Safety first--no TV set is worth getting injured or even killed over.If set is opened at least look for puffed up and bad caps like in thisphoto.

First would be to see if a DVD etc hooked to a rear input has this problem also---if not it is a setting off.Do not forget low audio does not have to be in the set if a cable or sat box or a receiver is being used it can be in those also--volume turned down in any of those will cause this.

Keep in mind if using a box it also likely has closed captions feature.In both set and or box in the menu find Captions--turn off or to one of the other options except TEXT---most sets use CC1 as default and some also offer captions when sound is muted or not.Look first on remote for captions, usually someone hits the button by mistake either for the box or the set--you may have to check both units to find it.

Check on the back of the TV to see if you have a "remote in" port. It will look the same as a 3.5mm headphone jack. Unplug the TV and plug a pair of headphone into the port and then remove it. Do this several times to breakup any debris that may have gotten into it or corrosion that may have occurred in the port. If something is in the port it will disable the standard remote sensor on the TV.

HelloThere is audio output from the TV at its back. They will be marked as [Audio Out]. Connect these sockets with any audio IN socket of an amp or so, whichever you uses to hear audio, with an RCA cable twins. Set the TV speaker option to OFF. To make TV option to OFF, get into its menu, surf through,annd come to AUDIO window. Here you can choose the audio option. Select the last 'TV Speaker ON", and make it OFF. Now the audio from the speakers of the TV will get OFF. You can use the amp you connected to hear audio from TV.RCA cable will look as below. Maybe there are buttons on the remote or tv set that are stuck, check these. If no luck then hide the remote so it can't communicate with the set, if it still is acting up unplugg the set for 30 min or more and plug it back in. This may clear a fault that is stuck. If it still is not working correct then the tuner is going bad. Check all devices that are plugged in to the set and unplug them from the tv so the tv does not recognize there is a device connected this may also help.
