LG 47LG70 42 in. LCD TV - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
My 47LG70 tv went out.
Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

47LG70 - PICTURE WENT OUT.
I have had the same problem off and on with my 47LG70 for months. When the "popping" noise happens, the blue light in the corner stays on, so I know the tv is still on (sometimes I still have sound, sometimes I don't). Sometimes the screen goes black, but other times it is blue. If I turn the tv off then on again, it might stay on for seconds, minutes or hours. It's been very frustrating.
This seemed to happen right after I got my new Comcast box, which came with an HDMI 1.3 cable. I read somewhere online that this tv might not be compatible with that cable, so I unplugged it and am using component cables again. I just did this today, so I don't know if it will work, but so far the tv has been on for 30 minutes with no problems.
I'm pretty ignorant about HDMI compared to component cables. I imagine I will not get as good a picture with the component cables, but I am willing to sacrifice quality if I can just get the darn thing to work. Mine is also only 18 months old.
Hope this helps. If it doesn't, maybe someone else out there can help us both.
My TV shows red standby light pulses and no picture, what can I do?

47LG70 won't stay on
How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy.
For more information, check the link http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/. If the blinks continues, and non-stop, the fault should be with its main system control IC, and with the memory IC.
Picture but no sound
go into settings or setup and find speakers then make sure there turned on or check mute setting also
TV will not turn on,
Hello,
The power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
I hope this will help in solving the problem, also do take care in handling the fault....
I have an 47LG70. It
At first the problem sounds like it could be the main printed circuit board, but is odd, because the audio outputs come from the main printed circuit board. Does the TV have the audio output running from the unit? Is the main question.
What I would suggest is, depending on how old the unit is, for instance, if it is only a few months out of warranty, contact LG and they may offer a once off 'Parts Only' or 'Labour Only' warranty for this problem as a gesture of good will.
The unit is getting power, we can tell because the audio still works through the surround sound, so the power supply printed circuit board is ok.
The main printed circuit board, the one with all the outputs and and inputs, seems to be working as it still delivers sound to the surround sound system.
It may be the LCD panel, the logic printed circuit board, a small printed circuit board attatched to the LCD panel or in a less likely case (or not) a component on the main printed circuit board.
I suggest if you are tech savvy and have access to a multimeter or a voltameter, you can remove the back of the unit and test the voltages running from the power supply printed circuit board to the main printed circuit board and from the main printed circuit board to the logic board and also to the voltages leading from and to the LCD panel.
Also keep and eye out for any blown capacitors, the look like a battery with the top bulging out when faulty as they are a common cause of certain issues becoming faulty and other issues still functioning properly.
I hope this helps, good luck.
LG LCD TV - Buzzing Sound and Faint Horizontal Lines
From your description, the sound you are hearing is the inverter(s) that drive the back light for the LCD screen/module.
The inverters mounted on the back side (one lower right and one left side) of the LCD screen/module. They are under the sheet metal cover/shields.
The inverters are going out and or the LCD screen/module is going bad too.
That LG TV has only a 1 year on parts and labor from the date of purchase, but you could call LG and ask for their help for such a new TV. They might do it under a warranty, for little or no cost to you.
I hope this information has helped you.
Good Luck.
My 47lg70 turns itself on and off all night long.
There can be several causes for this, few of which you can do anything about. However, a few things to try:
1) Replace the batteries on your remote control.
2) Try resetting the logic functions on your tv by unplugging it for a minute, then plugging it back in.
3) Try covering up the infra-red receptor on the front of your TV to see if you're getting unwanted signals from the receptor. taping a piece of foil over that area is perfect. If it doesn't stop after doing these two things you'll probably need to take it to a shop.
4) If this does stop it, then look for unexpected signal sources. Have you added a remote control extender? Added a new device to your audio-video system? Changed to a new remote?
I hope this helps. Joe
