Screen goes blank at odd times when buttons/dials
Most likely the contacts on the back of the faceplate which connect it to the unit are dirty. These are the gold/brass looking bits. If you remove the faceplate and clean the contacts gently with a small amount of methylated spirits on a q-tip or cotton bud it should do the trick. Also worth cleaning the spot on the unit where the contacts connect. Make sure it is completely dried out before you put the faceplate back on. Cheers, Dan
We just installed the Kenwood
i'm assuming you are going through an amplifier. if so it sounds like you are using the blue wire instead of the blue/white wire to turn the amplifier on. i can't really help you with the bluetooth though.

ok this worked for the kdc-x693 I just did it.first you need the remote. then turn on the car and unit instantly hold the auto button down and rotate the right control knob clockwise untill the display reads this. security clear
code
just like that on the screen.then tap the 5 button on the remote.
that will scroll through the letters on the #5 button then push the >>button on the remote you need to spell kcar out on the screen.
Time setting
Put the stereo on standby and enter the settings menu. You should then be able to set the time just make sure you stay away from the security code.
