Yamaha RX-V463 Receiver - Page 6 Questions & Answers
I would like to hook up my components without
You should not lose any picture quality from the DVD player. I am currently having the similar setup with PS3 as the Blu-ray DVD player with HDMI and a Samsung DVD as regular player with component cable to a Samsung LCD TV. Remember the quality on Blu-ray is better than normal DVD so don't expect more than what it is.
No sound from cable via V665 receiver
Can't pass HDMI thru this or any other receiver with version 1.1,1.2,1.2a,or 1.2b. HDMI is riddled with issues! it's not Yamaha, it's HDMI. The current version 1.3b is working "so far" If your receiver is still under warranty, Yamaha will update the software and hardware at N/C. If it's out of warranty, Run HDMI directly from source to TV and Audio to your receiver via optical or digital coaxial. For more info than you can process, google "HDMI forums" and there are over 73,000 posts/sites/etc. If you need further info, post a comment and I will be glad to help.
Right now my reciever will only play with two
Are you using single digital coaxial or optical digital or the stereo RCA cable.
You might have that buttons on the remote for surround,2channel,3channel or 5.1 channel.
orGo to the DVD's setup menu and click on "Audio Setup" or on "Languages" if there is no Audio Setup option and choose "Dolby Digital 5.1." (If you have a5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 system select "Dolby Digital EX" if it is an available option.) Depending on the age of the disc, the "Audio Setup" on the DVD menu may give you several choices: "5.1 Channel Surround Sound" or "Stereo Playback." If it's an old DVD, it might even say Dolby AC-3 (the professional designation for Dolby Digital 5.1). New DVDs may offer "Dolby Digital 5.1" and "Dolby Digital 2.0," the latter being stereo. Some of the disc menus offer only "Surround Sound" or "Stereo" options.
Receiver very low when watching tv or dvd
It's just "Digital Audio" vs "Analog Audio" You can use the "Volume Offset" function in the receivers "Main Menu" to compensate for this. Go into the menu then go to audio and or input settings and you can adjust the offset and lock it in. If you still have a problem, post a comment and I can help you some more. There is not a "problem" it's just the way the audio is transmitted. Like when your watching TV and a commercial comes on and BLOWS you out of the room. That's going from clean digital to noisy analog.
Need a code for my Comcast Universal Remote
30176 is the code you need . Press Aux and then hold setup until Aux lights up. Enter code. If you want the remote to control the receiver all the time, press Aux and then hold setup until Aux lights up. Enter 993 then press Aux. Aux will flash, now press Cbl and Aux should light up when you use the volume.
Yamaha RX-V463 Receiver Speaker Setup
That receiver has A and B channels. Look for the Speaker button and press it until B appears on the diplay. The other room speakers will play the same thing as in the main room.
Cant get surround sound on yamaha rx-463 in dvd
U may have the connections wrong. I know that there are different ways to connect this. But i would say first make sure all is well and test each signal. Then make sure u have the correct Video/DTS or what have u on the same channel. U may have to pull out the owners manual if u have it or we should have it on our site in a Adobe File for download(FREE) but it could just be that the settings on the menu portion have to be set up or the volume adjusted for each speaker.
Let me know if this works!!
Thank U jayson

RX-v465
Unfortunately the RX-V463's HDMI output is version 1.2 or 1.1. In simple terms, It is useless! Not to blame yamaha or any other manufacturer but the firmware was riddled with problems; just like what you describe. There is no fix for your model for the video issue, however, the optical issue is solveable. The receiver should play 5.1- 6.1 7channel stereo etc. in optical or coaxial mode. If you have the ability to switch to coaxial, do so. it's sound is warmer anyway. Secondly, check your settings thru the receivers "GUI" or "Menu" in Manual setup for audio. Thirdly, check your samsungs "Native" resolution, chances are it will only do 720p or 1080i and; if your TV is 50" or smaller, the human eye cannot see the difference between 720p and 1080p anyway, provided you use good cables. I am a professional in the industry and still avoid using HDMI whenever possible!
Just make sure you set your BluRay and TV to the same resolution. If your choices are 720p or 1080i use 720p it's cleaner 1080i is equal to 540p, which is just a hair over std DVD video. If you still have problems and need more help, post a comment and I will help some more. Hope this helps
The display only shows my front speaker icons.
Dont freak out! There isnt anything wrong with your receiver. Its simply telling you that you are not in 5.1 mode. If you havent done so already, hook the PS3 up using an optical cable for sound. An optical cable will provide all 5 channels to the receiver and at the best possible sound quality.
Explanation:
All PS3 games are Blu-ray and mixed into 5.1 channels but you need to set the PS3 to do that as by default it only uses 2.1 because the average user wont have it connected to a surround sound system
Solution:
Now, I want you to go into the control panel of your PS3 and set it to 5.1 DTS output (Dolby Digital isnt that great in my opinion). Restart the PS3 and you should be good to go.
Let me know if that worked or we will try some other options.
Your
The unit does not work
check the standby power supply first and then the main power supply.also check the output transistors and fuses your problem is in one of those points, normally the standby transformer goes bad, it is the small one right next to the big one.
good luck
The Yamaha RX-V463 AV does not playsound from the blue ray player
"I am also having difficulties in try to display the yamaha set up menu on the tv."
According to the manual the display menu for TV will not work with HDMI hook up.
I also have a Panasonic HD TV and can't get TV sound through my Yamaha AVR on "TV Sound" mode. Trying to use HDMI cable for this also. Do I need a digital optical cable or do I not have something set right?
