Samsung HT-TX72 Theater System - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
The unit won't power on at all.
You can try replacing it with any 10 amp fuse just to see what happens. If a new fuse keeps blowing out then you have a shorted power amplifier inside(they consist of transistor or a single chip). These device look normal most of the time short out with any visual indication. If you desolder the power amp chips(they are mounted against an aluminum heat sink to dissipate heat) and the fuse quit blowing then it is the problem.

Need help with Media Player
WMP 11 will _ONLY_ install on a "genuine" copy of Windows.
The only ways out of the "PROTECTION" error:
* start in Safe Mode, and use System Restore to go "back" in time to a date before the problem started;
* reinstall Windows from *GENUINE* media.
How can i hook up the ps3, and the tv, and the
Using its manual as a guide.
Consider the PS3 as an audio and video source, the Cable Box as a really high-end audio source and the TV as a Video Output only. Send the Best Audio ro Video sugnal directly from its source to the BEST device that needs it. There is never any good reason to run high-end audio to a TV or any video to a receiver if your TV has multiple video hookups. Routing anything somewhere it isn't actually processed or improved only invites failures (and expense) from unnecessary cabling.
Regarding HT-TX75
Whenever a DVD is
HDMI audio is going where in your scenario? By default, the audio is assumed to be handled by the HT, not some external device. Does your TV have better speakers?
What does it mean when the box automatically shuts
The processor sense problem on your fan then shuts down the unit to avoid further damage to your output IC from overheating..
It can be DIY by cleaning the fan, sometimes it is full of dust thats why its stuck or might be faulty already. If the fan is defective then replaced it with a new one.
After that if the symptom is still there then you might have a problem on the board.
This is quite technical and need to send to repair shop.
Good luck.

Is it possible to add a Sony Blue Ray DVD player
Yes it is. What you need to do is connect your blu-ray video output either HDMI or Component directly to your tv, and the audio output of your blu-ray should be connected to the digital coaxial input on the samsung system
When trying to plug in
First you need to make sure the iPod is in Disk Mode - any other mode is not fully supported for connections to other devices. If it is then you must find out if the problem is in the iPod or the Samsung: connect the iPod - with the same cable - to a pc; if it doesn't appear in My Computer then it's defective. To troubleshoot that read and follow this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
If it does appear then the problem is in the Samsung and to fix a bad USB connector the central unit must be dismantled to access the motherboard - something that you cannot do at home easily, in the next few hours. The unit will have to be sent to a repair shop.
In the mean time burn some mp3 cd's and use those for the time being.

It sounds like you have either a thermal problem , or an electronic component fault in the power amp section. If the protection circuit is being activated, which disconnects the speakers so you have no sound, this is like to be the problem. Unless you are a trained technician, you should take it to a repair center. If the repair estimate is larger than you are prepared to pay (unlikely, unless it is a snobby shop) you have to decide whether to replace it with a new or used one.

I found this solution online and it works !!!
1. Disconnect all cables and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
2. Remove the 6 screws securing the cover casing.
3. Remove the 2 screws that secure the fan.
4. Reverse the fan so that it blows the air out of the unit.
5. Replace the 2 fan screws.
6. Replace cover casing and the 6 screws.
YOU'RE DONE....Plug in and enjoy.
Smoke rolled out and then
By and large, electronic devices need the smoke to stay in for them to work. Once the smoke comes out, they generally don't work anymore.
Joking aside, the only parts that can generate enough heat to produce smoke will be the power supply transformer and capacitors. If you're lucky, the damage will be limited to the power supply, but there's a good chance that it went unregulated while it was failing and so dumped 120V into the main circuit board and cooked other components there.
If you are up for soldering, then open the unit up and post details of what components have visible damage, as well as detailed info about the circuit board revisions.
If you're not, then it's probably time to shop for a new receiver.
