Samsung offers the ability connect your iPod to the receiver with an iPod docking cradle (included). Your iPod effectively becomes another Samsung component flowing through the system.
That is from the samsung site and there should be a dock that came with the system that you would plug in and be able to hook up you ipod to the system.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on; or it may turn on but produce no audio to the speakers.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

It seems optical lens need to be clean as if has thin layer of dust on lens and causing problem in reading data that resulted distorted or frozen image.
Put lens cleaning disc in dvd player to clean optical lens that got stuck some where reading data on disc so you get frozen picture.
If that does not fix the issue then it may require to clean lens manually with good quality cotton swab, unit will take apart by qualified person to do so.

Geek Squad at best buy could figure this out, Cd players are cheap and replacing just that part would be easy.

On the rear of your TV connect, with a phono/RCA cable to the Audio R + L sockets, connect the other ends to your Yamaha using the TV in sockets. See photos attached Hope that helps. HDMI is for video unless the extra pins are added for audio.

Normally makers don't play ball between each other. Yes if it was a Samsung Television and a Samsung Receiver A/V System. Or if you have something like a Cable Box or Satellite System that is made to interact with other makes. Or if it is a Universal Remote. I think you were just lucky that it happened to use the same frequency.
