Yes, the files are likely corrupted. You can try a file recovery program such as PC Inspector Smart Recovery. Search snapfiles.com for a free download.

You must first make sure that the files are indeed good. Install VLC (which doesn't needs external codecs)

and try to play the wma files with it. If it fails then the files are corrupted. If it works then either the codec pack has been removed - reinstall it from

or the files were coded in a format Easywma can't support - like the lossless and voice one, or with DRM. If it's the last case then configure the recorders accordingly.

I've been having the same problem recently. It seems it might be low battery power. When I turned my recorder on, the battery was showing three bars, then down to two, but one would think it should still function with two bars.

However, before I went to buy a new recorder I decided to put a new battery in. So far it has not messed up again with the new battery. I'm pleased because I've used the heck out of my recorder and LOVE it...don't want to have to buy a new one.

It should be on the side of the recorder,visible after you remove the battery or it may be on a decal on the back of it

Pull the battery out and let it sit for 2 minutes,reinstall the battery,if that doesnt work save your recordings,and then format the recorder.If still no success,send it in to olympus for service

Have you tried rebooting your pc and do you have admin privleges if your running vist or 7?
Also make sure you put a fresh battery in the recorder,allow it to boot up and settle.Then separate the recorder,make sure the hold switch is not on hold and see if your pc recognizes it as a drive under my computer

The recorder should be formatted using only by using the internal FORMAT function found in the recorder's Menu. Formatting using the computer may corrupt system files needed to run the recorder, so computer formatting is not recommended. Individual files can be deleted using the computer with no negative effects.

It could be corrupted file. Try downloading one file at a time through My Computer. After you have exhausted all possibilities, format the recorder through the recorder (not the computer) and your memory should be fine

Unfortunately that is not possible with this recorder to be able to replay a part of a recording and record over it. If you pause it will just allow you to continue from the point where the device was stopped. You might want to check out the DS-2300 or the DS-2400 model recorders as those devices have the ability to do what you are asking.

Sounds as if you need to format the device. Go to the Menu - to Submenu press Ok - go to Format press Ok - Click start -

This will permanently erase all data and reset the memory so you will have the maximum amount of recording time again.

It sounds like the water damage may have caused the down volume button to malfunction.
