This is probably the Voice Mail Warning Indicator (VWMI) which alerts you to messages waiting in your telephone services' Voice Mailbox --- this is totally separate from the cordless phone's answering machine and is prone to 'key on' even when you do not subscribe the telephone services' voice mail. To summarize, Turning VM signal detection on/off: The default setting is "On", To turn this signal "off": 1. press [MENU] # 3 3 2 2. scroll up/down to desired choice 3. press [save] [off] ======================= Good luck!

You apparently have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

Sounds like a defective handset or base unit. Unplug the base unit from power and the telephone jack. Leave unplugged for 1 minute, this sometimes helps the phone to reset from a problem. Unplug the battery from the handset and plug back in after a minute also to help reset. Place your handset in the base unit for about 1 minute to allow the handset to link up with the base unit. If this doesn't work you may have a defective phone. Contact Panasonic support for further information if this does not work.

caller ID is operator specific so please ask the operator to activate the same.
