Sounds like some meat juice dried into the burner supply. You might have to remove the burner assembly and clean it out.

when you open gas , do you smell it? if not maybe venturi is blocked. can you light the burner with a lighter, if so gas is not problem. i think you have to do some troubleshooting first to eliminate the cause. if igniter works its a gas problem, if gas is coming in, its the igniter

The reg is the only adjustment you would need to check the pressure at the grill to see what you have . Also because its new there is always the change that some thing might be blocked .
