In the Map view, tap anywhere near the center of the screen. A new screen is displayed showing a wrench/spanner. That is the Changes.Preferences. Tap the wrench/spanner to change preferences. Keep tapping the arrow on the right until you see an icon with flags of UK, the Netherlands and Germany. You may have to tap the arrow 6 or 7 times. Tap that icon to get to the alphabetical list of available languages. Select your favorite tongue (whatever that may be), and Tap the button DONE (the button at the button and to the right.

So you've got that brand new shiny TomTom, turned it on, and .... OOPS! ... somehow you've selected the wrong language. Suddenly the entire interface is (literally) in some foreign language and you can't figure out how to get back to English. This has happened to quite a few people recently, so here is a short tutorial on how to get back to US English.TomTom Main MenuIf the device is currently turned on and you are anywhere but the primary map/driving view, it might be helpful to turn the device off. There is a small hole near the docking base , insert a pin to reset the unit. Holding down the power button will never reset the unit.

First try doing a soft reset. This is simply done by holding down the start button for about 15 seconds.

If that does not help, you will need to connect the TomTom to your computer USB port and to install again the TomTom system.

Here the steps from TomTom:

Before you begin, make sure you have the latest version of TomTom HOME installed on your computer.
Part 1: Remove the current application
1. Reset your device.
2. Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable or dock.
3. Turn on your device by pressing the power button for 5 seconds.

• Your device should automatically connect to the computer upon reset. If your TomTom device asks you if you want to connect to your computer, tap YES.

4. TomTom HOME may run automatically when you connect your device. If it does not, run TomTom HOME on your computer.
5. In the Main Menu of HOME click on Manage my device.
6. Click on the plus symbol next to Applications. Click in the checkbox on the right to select the application.

7. Click on Remove items from device.
8. Click OK at the prompt.
9. You will see a prompt, asking you to save a copy before you delete it. Choose Don't copy.
10. The application will then be removed. Click Done when complete.

Gps 130 is supposed to hybernate only. It is almost impossible to turn it completely off.

You can follow this steps in resetting your unit.
Press and hold the On/Off button until your device restarts. This can take more than fifteen seconds.

sounds like you have dis logged the speaker try taking the unit appart and re align the speaker as to were it is suppose to be

mcdevito75 here, You should be able to contact Tom Tom online, you can also try any store that sells GPS such as staples, for advise.

This may or may not help you.  If you are in area where the unit cannot get a signal it will tell you recalculating or if you are in area where it's maps are not up to date it may tell you the same thing. One other possible solution, shorten the trip, on a long trip the unit will/might find several possible routes and based on your settings it is unable to select just one route so it is choosing between two at the same time and it will keep recalculating until circumstances allow it to decide on just the ONE route.  Change some of your settings in the setup screen and see if that helps or if it is a long trip, break the trip up into smaller segmants. One full charge will hold good for approximately 3 hours.If you got it in January, it is better to recharge it. There are two easy ways to charge it. I assume you have got two different cables with it. One connects directly to the car cigarette lighter/12V socket. The other cable can be connected to a USB port of a computer. Tom get charged while connected to the computer also. On the outside chance you did not get the cable or cannot find it go to this link below to get the cables.

Please note Tom charges through the same port (USB) as it connects to the computer, which is it at the bottom of the Unit.

Since it is new ... you shold return it to the store and have them get it going ...

To set up time. Tap on main screen. Tap on change preferences. Tap on the arrow 5 times till you reach, Preferences 6 of 6 page. Tap on set clock. Select the way you want it to be displayed. Click done.
You can correct the time on the next screen using the up and down arrows. When you have the correct time click done.

you need to reset your language to English !! tap screen then open change preferences , tap arrow to the right till you see change language , then select English uk or English usa

go to tomtom.com, go to support, search for reset, select your device do as told. includes fotos of resetbutton and good discription. first make sure battery is full. goodluck.
