I have a tomtom one n14644 I would like to update it and im not sure how

The usual way to update your TomTom GPS is using the TomTom HOME software that you download and installed on your computer/laptop. Then set up your TomTom account (using the TomTom HOME application) and registered your TomTom device (in that account) on the TomTom webiste After that, connect your TomTom device to your computer/laptop (using the USB cable). Turn on the TomTom device, and touch the YES icon (on your TomTom screen) if it asks whether you'd like to connect to the computer. You should be able to see the updates available for your TomTom device (on the TomTom HOME application). Select the updates you want and (download and) install them. Recently TomTom has stopped providing software/map updates and/or support for certain (older) models of their TomTom GPS. If you see such a notice when you register your TomTom device, your option is to get a newer GPS model (you may even get an offer on the TomTom HOME screen), or you can continue to use your device without updating the software and/or maps until it becomes unhelpful, unreliable, etc.

I have a tomtom go

When the TomTom navigation software is bad (corrupted, error) an X is shown on the screen ... You'll want to try to recover the software from your backup (that you have made on your computer). Otherwise, you'll need to connect your device to the HOME (or MyDrive Connect) software (on your computer/laptop) to see if you can re-install the software.

I have a tomtom 4n00.004.2 when I turn it on it shows the SD icon with a red x over it and it will not allow me to do anything else to it ..what does that mean

When the TomTom navigation software (on your SD card) is bad (corrupted, error) an X is shown on the screen ... You'll want to try to recover the software from your backup (that you have made on your computer). If you also have the TomTom navigation software on the main memory, try removing the SD card and start the GPS up again. If that works, you'll want to restore/re-install the copy of the navigation software on your SD card. Otherwise, you'll need to connect your device to the HOME (or MyDrive Connect) software (on your computer/laptop) to see if you can re-install the software. Recently, TomTom has decided to limit/stop support (including software/maps, etc.) for certain (older) models of TomTom GPS. If your model is one of those, you're out of luck. TomTom is trying to have you buy a new model.

Im trying to update my tomtom start.but i cant get it to dwnld on my laptop.

I'm assuming you have - the TomTom HOME (or MyDrive Connect) software installed on your computer/laptop. - you have a TomTom account and have registered your TomTom device (in that account) on the TomTom webiste - you are able to successfully plug your TomTom device to your computer/laptop, e.g. using the USB (cable or cradle) - you can log into your TomTom account and have the TomTom software (HOME or MyDrive Connect) recognize your device (as being connected) - you see the list of software/data/map updates available for your device ... and you still can't download the software/data/maps ... ? to update your TomTom device ... ? Have you been able to get any help/support from the TomTom website ? www.tomtom.com to do this ?

My Go 910 tomtom is frozen and will not go any further please help

If you can't turn it off (to re-boot it) by holding down the ON/OFF button for a while (e.g. 30 seconds or more) another option is to do a "hard reset" ... use a pin (e.g. paper clip) and push the reset (pin-hole) at the bottom of the device, to turn it off. Then turn the device on again.

I bought a Tomtom 620 and so far I cannot find how I can identify hotels, restaurants, etc on the screen.

You can select the type of POI (points of interest) that you want to display on the screen. Touch the screen to show the menu, and look for the icon to change your preferences. When you get to the icon to select the POI to display on your screen, select the POI you want, e.g. hotels, restaurants, gas station, train stations, etc. After you've selected it, the icons for hotels/restaurants will be shown on the screen map ... if those POIs are included in the data that came with the map.

Can I take my TomTom 1515 to thUK and download my UK maps

Yes, your GPS device can have more than one map ... assuming there's enough memory (RAM or SDCard) available on your device. Just copy the map (from your home computer) to the GPS device (memory), then install the map using the activation code (for that map) on your device. After that is done, you'll be able to use the UK maps on the device (by switching map to the UK map, using the navigation software)

I have a tomtom one trying to update the maps

You'll need to connect your GPS device to a computer (using the USB port), and use the TomTom HOME software to access and download maps from the tomtom website and install it on your device. Then, when you connect your GPS to your computer and run the HOME software, (after you sign in to your TomTom account), the software will identify data, maps, etc. that you can download and install on your TomTom GPS device. Recently Tomtom has limited support and updates for certain (older) models of TomTom GPS. They hope you'll get a new model. If your TomTom One GPS device is one of those models with little/no support, you're out of luck.

Tomtom via 1400. display no maps found.

This message usually mean that the map on your device is not "validated" for use. It happens when the navigation software is updated (e.g. automatically by the HOME / MyDrive Connect software) ... so, you'll have to (install and) validate the map again (using your map activation code).

How do i download to tomtom for 720

Connect your GPS device (using the USB connector / cradle or a USB cable) to your computer / laptop and use the tomtom HOME software. Assuming you have TomTom HOME software on your computer (if not download it from the tomtom website and install it on your computer/laptop), and after you've created a TomTom account and register your GPS device, you can use the HOME software to download software, data, maps, etc. to update your TomTom GPS device.

I bought a Tomtom Go 520 whilst in the USA. From time to time the GPS just goes dead for a half a day or so, after which it would come on again and work asif nothing is wrong. What can I do?

Assuming it's not a battery (out of power) issue (when the battery just needs to be charged up), try to reboot the device. This can be done by holding down the ON/OFF button for a while (30 seconds or more) ... until it starts up again. Or, use a pin (paper clip?) to push the reset button (while the device is on) to reboot it. If you have a battery issue, i.e. the battery doesn't hold a good charge, then there's no much you can do, but wait for the battery to be charged sufficiently to run the device. Yes, the device is run off the battery power ... even if the device is plugged into a power source (e.g. car or computer).

My Tomtom stuck on same message, a picture of a computer with a Tomtom and a X on it .

Usually an X on the screen indicates that your GPS (navigation) software is no good (corrupted, etc.) You can try to connect your GPS to your computer and see if you can download and install the GPS navigation software again. Then, download and install the map as well.

My tomtom start s/n BL2025B90193 gives inaccurate arriving at destination update map and my software per tomtom home/connect. It says arriving at destination I have not arrived at my destination

This will happen when the map info is incorrect ... by a short distance or a long ways. If your map is not up-to-date, this may happen. If this is the case, updating your map may help. The tomtom (navigation) software enables you to correct the map data and to share it (using your tomtom HOME software) with tomtom / others. Hopefully, the correction will be verified by TomTom (map data provider) and the map data will be corrected in the next release of the map.

I would like to update the maps on my tomtom 610

To update the maps on your TomTom 610, use the MyDrive Connect software (from tomtom). If this tomtom software is not yet installed on your computer/laptop, download it from the tomtom website (e.g. www.tomtom.com) and install it. Then follow the instructions to update your map, after connecting your GPS device to your computer. You may have to create a TomTom account (and register your device), sign in to your account, locate the replacement map or any new maps (of other regions) you wish to install, download the maps and install the map. If you have a "lifetime" map (privilege) for your device, you won't have to pay (subscribe) for the updated map.

TomTom One 3rd edition can't connect to GPS (maybe related to recent WNRO update)

While I'm not certain it is related (to the WNRO update), you may wish to check out a couple of other possibilities. Yes, the recent WNRO update will ensure the time (on the GPS device) is properly displayed (after getting the satellite signals). Find out if the software in your GPS device (model, etc.) can be updated (via the tomtom HOME software). If it can, and if the WNRO update is the cause of your not being able to connect, it may solve the problem. If the software cannot be updated, it's TomTom's way of phasing out (i.e. not continuing to support ) older models of their GPS devices ... and tomtom hopes you'll get a new model, etc. Otherwise, try to update the "satellite location" information regularly, i.e. the QuickGPSfix (data) patch, using the tomtom HOME software. It provides updated information to the GPS device on the (new) locations of the satellites. [ Yes, satellites do stray from their locations ] That may solve your problem too.

Tomtom keeps saying waiting for valid gps signal

As you probably know, the GPS device needs to get a satellite signal to determine its (your) location, before it can be used. When the device is having difficulties getting that information, that message is displayed. A common reason for not being able to get the signal is when there's physical barriers between the device and the satellites, e.g. when you're in a building, under certain covers where there's little/no line of sight between the device and the satellites. Sometimes, even when this is not the case, the GPS has difficulties getting satellite signals. So, getting an update (from the tomtom webiste) of the satellite locations can help. Just connect your GPS to the tomtom website, using tomtom HOME (the software), and get the QuickGPSfix update (a very small file) installed on your GPS device. It is suggested you update this data regularly ( as it provides a better location of the satellites, for the GPS device to search) If you've already done that and the GPS still have problems locating the satellites, try to reboot the GPS. This can be done by holding down the ON/OFF button (for quite a while, e.g. 30 seconds or more) ... to shut the GPS down, and then turn it on again. Or, use a pin (e.g. paper clip) to press the "RESET" pin-hole, to turn it off, and start the GPS device up again. Hope this helps.

Does my TomTom have free maps

Usually, if you buy a (new) TomTom with a "free" lifetime maps, it is only for the (one) existing/current map(s) installed on the device. So, if that applies to your TomTom, you'd be able to get maps for South Africa (for life). To get a TomTom map for Australia, just go to the tomtom website, (www.tomtom.com) and click on "Maps & Services" ... and you'll be able to select and buy/subscribe to the map(s) you want.
