Magellan Triton 400 Handheld GPS Receiver Questions & Answers
Locked up will not connect to computer
The white or gray bar on top of your 400 is a developer bar. This caused by a corrupt fine in the internal memory of the GPS. You can repair this problem by going to the www.exploristforum.com website and looking under the Repairs and Services section. The repair software is there with instructions on how FIX your GPS.
How reset magellan triton 400
Hi,
First, if the unit will still connect to VP, go into the "My GPS" section and manually delete all of the caches on the unit. this is often the issue with the Tritons. This can take some time, however, once the bad cache record is deleted the unit should return to normal operation. The only problem is that you won't know which record it is the bad guy, so just delete all of them. If done this to both a my T400s a couple of times and it normally fixes the problem.
Second, if the first option doesn't work then you'll need to boot the unit in the developers mode, which will allow the unit to be seen as a USB drive on your computer, you can copy a new set of files over to the unit. I have a clean set of files a third party server at: http://dwcarr1.brinkster.net/triton/t400tfat.zip. Once you'll copied these files over the existing files you should be able to disconnect and reboot the unit and void a hardware issue, this normally works.
Good luck and I hope this helps,
When I power up all I get is the Magellan Triton
1.Ok, if you have tried the manual update and it won't work then the thing to do is download this file:
http://www.lenwoodcc.org/triton/t500tfat2.zipTo download the file just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and blue highlighted section of text just above.2.And then connect your GPS your computer and start it in the developers mode - which should make it connect to your computer as a USB driver. To start your GPS in developer mode ,simultaneously press and hold the POWER - LIGHT - UP ARROW buttons as you start the GPS.Want to get out of this mode, you can reboot the unit by simultaneously pressing and holding the POWER - SELECT - ESC buttons or just take out one of the batteries.3.Next unzip the T500TFAT2.ZIP file to a directory on your hard drive. Once you have that unzipped go to "My Computer" and access the TFAT directory on your Triton and erase all of the files on it. Then copy all of the files from the T500TFAT2 file that I sent you. Once you have the new files in place then disconnect your Triton from the computer and reboot it and see if it works. If you need further assistance please feel free to contact me.
