Beggining of loop missing on FIRST playback only, on Boss RC-50.

Ok, solved this problem by visiting roland U.S. site as the help offered in this country is useless. The instructions given by email would not have worked even after the update was installed. Luckily, there are instructions that come with the download. If you have same problem as me go to http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=772&tab=downloads&skip=true

and update the opperating system on the RC-50 to RC-50 System Update Version 1.01.

Then hold loop sync and phrase 2 button (think it was phrase 2) to change it to sound priority mode. Then it will play back correctly what you recorded on the first loop, rather than missing the first beat.

Am v.happy I have found this, as after much searching I can't find any other loopers out there that offer 3 seperate loop tracks and the ability to switch between them effectively. Plus, it's a very convenient size, better than a load of rackmounted stuff to haul around.

However.....

Another problem..

When hitting the reverse switch ( I assigned both external footswitch and the onboard Tempo pedal to reverse) the change is not instanteaneous. There is a second or so delay before it plays in reverse. Not a problem for most, I suppose, but I have a piece that switches rythmicaly between playing forward and reverse which means hitting a pedal in time and reverse/forwards changing immediately. I think they could do with another software update to solve this. Now I have to keep room in my enormous pedal board for the old rc-20, as that does the reverse as it should - when you hit the flippin switch!

Rc-50 recording silent wav files

Perhaps your computer's sound card is unable to play back at the bit rate and kHz you are recording at on your (mobile?) recorder. I'm not familiar with the RC-50 but if you are recording at 24 bit for example and your computer's sound card is only able to play back at 16 bit it may not reprosuce any sound. Usually you will get an error saying so. Have you tried different playback software?

The XLR-input distorts very fast

XLR inputs often have a pad (attenuator) that is switchable for signal level.

Can i add more memory to the rc50 loop pedal

You can make a backup on your pc and load back Default settings or restore to default settings. Normally you should have I quote ' with up to 49 minutes of mono recording time (or 24 minutes in stereo), the RC-50 can function as a song recorder as well as a looper' I have the RC300 which has 3 hrs recording time. But when i reach the limit. I make a backup and load back in a initial default setup which I have downloaded somewhere. But you can also restore to default from the unit itself. Hope this helps

I have the Boss RC-50

Likely the switch contacts for that pedal have failed. You will probably have to get it repaired. Stomping on the pedals is a good way to damage them, but the switches are often marginally designed anyway...

If you can access the switch you could try getting some CRC226 available at Home Depot in the electrical department into the switch, but often the internal parts of switches fail.

Hello, it's not a problem. just a question.

This could POSSIBLY be done using an external source generating a MIDI sync clock fed to both.

RC-50: Importing wav. files from computer to loop station.

Hi I just got a RC 50 and I face the same problem but looking the content of the data in the Roland folder (after you connect the USB) , I notice the format of the label of each sound's and I understood the problem. So , here it is . Before you connect to USB , you have to choose a patch , let say n.16 OK, now the audio file that you want to import into the data folder must be named in this way "016_1.WAV" ,the 16 refer to the patch number and 1 is the phrase number (if you want to put the audio file into the phrase 1 ,or 2 if 2 ecc.) now disconnect the USB .At this point you just have to increase or decrease the patch number just one time and go back to 16 (it has to refresh the patch info) and you'll find your audio file ready to use in whatever phrase you put it.
have fun

Try doing a factory reset by following the instructions in the manual. It's the quickest and easiest way to "clean the slate" and only requires a few simple steps.

I damaged my boss BE 50 by using the wrong

You are probably fortunate that more damage was not done.

Open the unit and you will likely find a protective diode at the input and either a fuse or that a circuit trace has been blown. Replace whatever is not conducting the power from the power jack to the rest of the circuitry. The diode is probably OK as usually the battery power is across it when the battery is used.
