I have a vizio HDMI DTV telvision, and a sony

If you're using the HDMI cable with 5 wires, the red, blue and green wires are for video and the red and white wires are for audio. If your TV has a component IN RCA jacks, they connect there. If you're using the 3 wire cable, yellow is for video, and the red and white is for audio. You will NOT get HDMI pictures with this setup so you will have to go into the input selections and choose composite video input on the TV menu. Get a connection diagram from Visio's website or look in your owners manual if you have one. .Connect them to the corresponding inputs

How do i connect my pc to my phillips home theatre system through an hdmi cable

The best way is to connect your laptop to a spare HDMI input on your TV first, then use the AUX OUT from your TV to the AUX IN1 of the Phillips Home theatre system using a standard RCA cable. The only catch with this is that you will have stereo analog audio, NOT digital surround. However, by pressing the "SURROUND" button of your Phillips HTS remote you can switch the audio output to multi-channel surround, stereo or party mode. What is the model number of the TV you are using?

Speaker wire problem

Yes you can splice the ends onto the existing wires, but first make sure the ends are labeled + or - and make sure you hook the other ends to the speakers the correct way. Before you cut the connectors off of the speaker wires mark one of each of the pairs of the wires with tape, on each side of where you cut it so you can match the wires back up. Are the pre-wired, wires labeled + and -? or red and black? Or one of each pair is a different color wire ie silver and copper? If they aren't labeled its going to be hard to get the correct polarity (+ and -) for each speaker. I hope this helps post back if you have any problems.

Hi,
If you have necessary tools and test instruments, know safety precaution in basic troubleshooting try the steps below to solve your problem.
Assuming that the disc is good.
1.Clean the lens. - Sometimes because of dust and any fine foreign objects build-up, the optical lens can't read any disc. If you have a DVD Lens cleaner, play it to the unit. If this is not available you may manually clean the optical lens. Open the cover and gently clean the eye of the lens by smooth, clean, soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this, just a gentle stroke only.
2.Check the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc, this is because of the movement of the optical lens back-and-forth. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser. If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.
3.Check the spindle motor - Check the spindle motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin. Bad motor- reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.

Hint : Most of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.
If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.
If the above steps didn't cure the problem, high chance that your optical lens was faulty.

If you can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the symptom.

Also, check if your unit is under warranty period, avail it because the manufacturer will fix it for free. Don't attempt to open the cover(it will void the warranty).

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

WHERE TO BUY REMOTE CONTROL

Here's the site for universal Philips remotes:

http://www.usa.philips.com/c/replacement-remotes/182940/cat/en/#filterState0=URC_REPLACEMENT_SU_US_CONSUMER%3Dtrue;tabState=0

You can choose different ones, and find the one you want. Make sure you click the Audio link under "Types of Device", so it can support your home theater. After you get the one you want, it allows you to find a store, or you can take the model number and look for it elsewhere.

It's possible that this DVD is not from the same region as the DVD player.
For instance, a DVD from India (region 5) will not play in a DVD player from the US (region 1).
You may want to check into that and post a reply here.

Philips hts3565d keeps shutting off

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and
operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance
loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has
sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls.
Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean
dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-
protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without
addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker
connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted.
If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and
competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent
shutdown.

Most universal remotes will have a code for this. take the make/model number with you and ask the sales clerk to check if the universal remote you are buying is compatible. They will either give you a return guarantee if it doesn't work or if the clerk really knows his customer service, he'll check for you before you buy it.

Hello Dhrubajyo,

[...] The VCD format has no region coding, so discs can be played on any compatible machine worldwide. Many VCD players can compensate for the differing frame rate and pixel count between NTSC and PAL/SECAM TV systems. [...]

You might have a problem with PAL/NTSC system here, but I assure you that it is not the matter of the region setting. Also - please, be careful when changing the region. Many players offer possibility to change it only several times. 5 times as the most often option. After 5 changes, the setting is locked.
