Nortel IP phones going to server unreachable even when connected

Our company is in the business of setting up equipment and providing advice over the phone. We have hundreds of calls a day, now we use a small VOIP system. But the number of calls is already overwhelming the available pool. We need to look for an alternative.

You need to configure your CS 1000 for Personal Directory / Redial List / Callers List through Element Manager. Instructions for doing this are in the IP Line Fundamentals NTP. You can download the NTP from www.nortel.com/support.

How do I unlock voicemail on a hand set?

Enter the admin mailbox (usually FEATURE 981). Follow the prompts to enter the mailbox change menu for the box you need to reset and select the "reset password" function. This unlocks the box and sets the password to 0000, which will then prompt the user to enter a new password when the mailbox is opened. Message waiting light is flashing but no messages are recorded. I have turned this off at Options but message waiting display keeps coming back..what do I do.

There is a call back feature in the system. Sometimes when you receive an internal call from another extension and you are on another call the caller will hit callback. You actually have to return the call to that extension to stop the light from flashing.

Is there a "translation" for Nortel Network serial numbers? Can you tell the Country of Origin from the SN?

Hi I have found a manual here which gives information regarding key codes and serial numbers on Page 66. It can be downloaded and saved in pdf format from here: http://data.manualslib.com/pdf2/31/3005/300494-nortel/callpilot.pdf?bc5faed6f2944386bbe43827bb387143 I have not found anything regarding serial numbers and Country of Origin, although I expect that a Nortel engineer would have such a reference, I just can't find it in the public domain - Sorry.
