Amana NTW5205TQ Top Load Washer Questions & Answers
Amana Heavey Duty washer shakes excessive in spin.
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France
I mostly answer front load problems but ' out of balance' is a common problem with both!
So- I don't know your particular machine but the initial cure is the same.
Although you say that it is on a firm base and level and the supports are fine, I would still go through the following procedure- honestly ;-0)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine, even when empty, has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly ;-0)
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine (sorry about my UK spelling!) and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.
If this has not cured the problem it is possible that the internal drum suspension is malfunctioning but I've not had any feedback of this nature.
Good luck,
John C
Washer is shacking really bad
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France @16:06 Sun afternoon.
Whether top loader or front loader all machines need their feet properly adjusted downwards so they ALL are pressing firmly on the floor.
With the machine not working you, or someone, will need to firmly push one front corner. If the machine rocks AT ALL, the foot at that corner will require adjusting down as described above. If it is not that corner try the other one in a similar fashion. Do not screw a foot down so much that the machine lifts up! The other corner would have to be readjusted to compensate. After adjustment ensure the locking nuts are also adjusted tight so that the foot will not move.
This SHOULD cure your problem.
Bets of luck,
John C

If it doesn't spin or pump, it could be that
your pump is seized or something is stuck in it. Sometimes it will agitate but not pump. Turn OFF the power. and remove the front vertical panel by
inserting a drywall knife in a the top right about 4" in from edge at the
joint 1" down from the top, push the clip back to release that corner, get
another knife and do the same to the left top corner, the pull the top of the
front panel and swing towards you, then lift off and remove. Discount the
two hoses to the pump, one from the drum the other that goes to the back.
Be ready for a considerable amount of water to come gushing out, use a hose to
direct to a floor drain. Check to see if something is stuck in the pump
or the hoses, remove it. Check to be sure the impeller spins. If
you found something restricting the flow or pump, remove it and re
assemble. If the impeller won't spin easily, then you need a new pump.
Remove blockage in the pump. Re-assemble and test.
The machine takes forever to run loads its like
HI Doctor, Sorry no one can help you with this yet. Maybe I can. The timer has a small motor on it that may not be working. If there are two screws on the head on either side, remove these then flip the top up. Turn the timer on and look on the back of it. There is the motor to run the timer. Is it turning? you will see it moving if it is. If not, you may be able to get another from a used appliance dealer or a parts shop in your area. This is my idea. I hope it helps you

Noisy loud whinning noise when the water is
You probably have bad valves or clogged valves. I suggest to remove the hoses (shut off water supply first, naturally :) ) and see if there is some gunk built up in there. Be careful you don't damage the connections or could be worse :(
