I purchased a whirlpool front loader washer

This can't be the washer unless the error code still flashes after the pressure switch is replaced and the pressure hose has no moisture or air leaks. Moisture in the pressure hose can go up to the pressure switch and corrode the contacts that may result it to weld. Below is the detailed explanation of the F20 code and how troubleshoot and address it.

This error code F20 tells that no water entering the machine is detected during the fill step of the wash cycle. It can be due to siphoning, pressure switch not tripping or stuck in the empty position, or the water flow meter is not reading the correct water flow. Make sure that no water is draining out of the drain hose due to siphoning as water fills in and position the end of the hose to prevent such condition.

The pressure switch is stuck and not tripping if after 8 minutes the water flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it but the control has not detected the pressure switch trips. The water valves are then turned off and the error code is flashed. The error code is also flashed if after 30 seconds the water valves are turned on and no water is detected entering the machine due to sticking flow meter pinwheel or the flow meter is not positioned properly.

The flow meter is position sensitive. The pinwheel must be installed vertically. Any canter to it may cause the wheel to stick. Many times the F20 error code pops up only when HOT water passes through the flow meter. The hot water may be softening the hoses on either side of the meter, causing the flow meter to canter.

jahn27_339.jpg

Stuck or cantered pinwheel affects the flow meter's ability to read water flow accurately. Disconnect the hoses from the flow meter then blow air into the inlet to free a possible stuck pinwheel. Replace the flow meter if the pinwheel is stuck and cannot be freed.

Check the pressure hose for possible kinks or air leaks if the flow meter pinwheel is positioned vertically and turning freely. Kinks and air leaks in the pressure hose prevents pressure built up in the pressure switch dome and the pressure switch cannot trip. Check the pressure hose including its connections to the pressure switch and the bottom of the tub. Blow air into the pressure hose to clear possible clogs or kinks and check it for air leaks. Also blow air into the pressure switch dome to free a possible pressure switch contacts welded or stuck in the empty position. You should hear the pressure switch clicks if it is tripping.
Flicking the pressure switch repeatedly or tapping it lightly against a hard surface may also free the stuck contacts. Replace the pressure switch if still not tripping and the pressure hose has no kinks or air leaks.

It's on lock control

If you are referring to the Control Lock on a Whirlpool Duet, Kenmore Elite, or Maytag Epic series front loader, this is actually a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance.

With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, leaning against the control panel, or pressing and holding the wrong button. This is usually not an indication of a malfunction.

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured appliance (such as Kenmore Elite, Maytag Epic or Whirlpool Duet), the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more significant problem other than a simple operator control button issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue). Please post back and let me know if you need further assistance.

F35

The F35 indicates that the main control board detects a problem with the analog pressure sensor (water level pressure switch) in the washer. This component senses and controls water level in the washer. This failure could be caused by a pinched or broken air hose between the air trap at the bottom of the washer tub and the analog pressure sensor. It can also be caused by a clogged air trap or a failed analog pressure sensor. If you are able to unplug the washer and pull off the top panel, you can check for the probable cause of this failure.

To remove the top panel, remove the screws on the very back of the panel that secure it to the washer cabinet. Pull the top panel back slightly and then and off of the washer. It is on the side wall just behind the expansion control board. You can check the air pressure hose connection and the wire harness connection on this component.

This component costs around $99.This information was based on the general description of the washer model that you provided (Kenmore Elite front load washer). There are several different models of this washer.

The following link explains the error in more detail and how to correct:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608687-sud_error

NOTE: If these preliminary measures do not correct your problem, you may have to replace the drain pump. It does not take much to damage the pump impeller or motor. Since the error code can be generated if the drain cycle exceeds 8 minutes, if the pump is damaged and can't pump at the required volume, the error code will continue to appear until the pump is replaced.

Having error f11 and now controls locked

F11 is:
Serial Communication Error
Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.

Check for:
Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
Check MCU
Check CCU
Check Motor
Check Wire Harness

If all the connections look fine , then its possible the CCU is reading wrong and will need to be changed

F35 error code

This typically indicates slow drain condition. It's not only if the water drained, but how quickly it drained. Check for any clogs or kinks in the drain line. Also check that the pump is not clogged and that no pump impeller blades are missing/broken and that the impeller moves freely. Any broken/missing blades or if the impeller won't turn freely will indicate a faulty pump. Hard objects can sometimes make it to the pump and cause damage. Hope this helped and best wishes.

F11 error

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Error F11 means it is a serial communication error between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) and the communication cannot be sent correctly to these units and the washer. To resolve the issue you are facing with, please check the wire harness connectors to the MCU, then the motor and Central Control Unit (CCU). Also please check the drive system for any worn or failed components, MCU, CCU, motor and wire harness.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

How do i get a necklace stuck in holes of my Whirlpool thin twin washing machine?

It won't be easy - the necklace went through the hole so logically it should come back, unfortunately it is the nature of a necklace to be a random structure unless some tension is applied; the links or whatever are apt to go sideways and jam in the hole. In an extreme case the necklace could be knotted... If it is knotted there is no chance of removal and the solution is either to dismantle the washer or to break the necklace. Positioning the drum so the necklace is under tension under its own weight and with some jiggling and the application of lots of patience and some luck it should come back through the hole.

Whirlpool heavy duty commercial washer # cae2743800 will not start after coins inserted and start button held

Check the Coin Mechanism: Ensure that the coin mechanism is functioning correctly. Sometimes, coins may get stuck or not register properly. Verify that the coin slots are clear and that the mechanism is engaging properly. If there's an issue with the coin mechanism, it could prevent the washer from starting. You might need to clean or repair it. Inspect the Wiring: There should be a harness with two wires that go into the coin mechanism box. Check if these wires are intact and properly connected. If you find any damage or loose connections, consider repairing or replacing the wiring. Bypass the Coin Mechanism: If you suspect that the coin mechanism is causing the problem, you can bypass it temporarily. Cut the wires going into the coin mechanism and insert a push button switch in the line. This will allow you to manually start the washer without relying on the coin mechanism. If you're unsure how to do this, consider contacting a local repair shop for assistance. Check for Other Issues: Inspect other components such as the lid switch, control board, and start button. Any malfunction in these parts could prevent the washer from starting. Make sure the washer is plugged in and that there are no tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses.

Whirlpool duet steam washer displaying F 20 error code during wash cycle. Water seems to be flowing just fine. I've unplugged it several times to clear the code but it's not working.

The F20 error code on a Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer typically indicates a water inlet problem. It means the washer is not getting enough water to continue the wash cycle. This can be due to several reasons, even if it seems like water is flowing fine at first glance. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
  1. Check Water Supply Hoses:
    • Ensure both the hot and cold water faucets are fully open.
    • Inspect the water inlet hoses for kinks, bends, or twists that could restrict water flow. Straighten out any issues you find.
    • Turn off the water supply, disconnect the hoses from the back of the washer, and check that the filter screens inside the water inlet valve are not clogged with debris. Clean them carefully if needed.
  2. Water Pressure:
    • The washer requires a certain amount of water pressure to function correctly. Low household water pressure can lead to insufficient water flow to the washer. Make sure your home's water pressure is within the washer's required range.
  3. Check for Siphoning:
    • Make sure the drain hose is correctly installed. The end of the hose should not be too far down the standpipe, and there should be an air gap to prevent siphoning.
  4. Inlet Valves:
    • If the water hoses and screens are clear, there might be an issue with the water inlet valves themselves. They might not be opening fully due to electrical issues or mechanical failure.
    • The inlet valves can be tested with a multimeter for continuity to ensure they are functioning correctly. If they lack continuity, they need to be replaced.
  5. Flow Meter:
    • Some Whirlpool Duet models have a flow meter that measures the amount of water entering the washer. If this component malfunctions, it could mistakenly signal that there's not enough water, even when there is.
    • Diagnosing a flow meter requires some technical knowledge and a service manual for your specific model.
  6. Pressure Switch:
    • The washer uses a pressure switch to monitor the water level. If there's an issue with this switch or the hose connected to it, the washer might incorrectly interpret the problem as insufficient water flow.
    • Check the pressure switch and the hose for any blockage, disconnection, or damage.
  7. Reset the Washer:
    • Since unplugging the washer hasn't cleared the error, after checking the above, try to reset the control board by unplugging the washer for about 5 minutes, then plugging it back in.
If after trying these steps the F20 error persists, it may be time to consult the manual for more specific troubleshooting steps for your model or contact a professional appliance repair service. Sometimes, the problem could be related to the washer's electronic control board or other components that require professional diagnosis and repair.
