Broken horizontal spindle for Singer 2250 where

There is a product on-line called the "Wonder Thread Guide" (made in USA). ** F&E Company, Montrose, CO 81403**I used it to replace a broken thread spindle, it works by sliding a spindle over the stub of the broken one, so thread stand upright instead horizontally. It is MARKETED to eliminate tangling, twisting, breakage, etc. Functions on all sewing/embroidery / quilting machines. Sandy34287

Serenade

Personally regret to hear a kind of problem that you have on the machine, however the other customers are enjoying and benefited from it for one reason they were given demonstration before/upon purchasing the 2250. If your new machine does not include a demo cd, I suggest you visit singer site thru google "singer 2250 sewing machine" and you may be able to download the video on how to use the machine. Hope that can be useful.

My machine turns on but is not stitching when the pedal is pressed. There is no up and down movement of needle etc.

You may need either a new foot pedal or an air transducer. That's not as scary as it sounds, I just replaced mine:) You can get parts cheap at Sewingparts.com.

I can't find anywhere how you thread the needle, it is supposed to be self threading

Take a deep breath Joan!! The info is there.... you just need to slow down and study it a bit. Ok so you got to step 5. The next step is to draw the thread up the left channel and slip it into the take up lever slot. (You should have already turned the handwheel so the needle is at its highest point so the takeup lever is peaking out at you.) Simply draw the thread to the right of the metal take up lever... and over the top of it and down the the left. This should make your thread slip into the slot. Then take the thread down and slide it under the thread guide (7) and finally thread your needle.

How do I take of the back cover on my Singer 2250 tradition?

These plastic machines are like computer cases. Get a thin bladed tool and wedge it between the sections... look for those "tab locks" and release them. Good luck.

The needle is stuck and I can't turn the wheel either way

oh ick. First take some clippers and clip the threads as best you can from under the fabric. Get the fabric out of the way. Now, loosening the needle holder, push the needle down... and tip it out of the holder. Take off the pressure Foot. Now you should have nothing other than threads and needle. Tke off the needle throat plate or tip it up by removing any screws... get under there with sharp pointed scissors and clip the threads doing your best to free the needle. Once the needle is free... throw it away.. it is probably damaged. Now you have to clear out ALL the threads in the feed dog, bobbin, area. This may mean removing the bobbin race and basket. Take care... make sure you KNOW where everything goes and how it fits together. Once you have it all clean under there... replace everything. Put in a new needle and rethread. From now on make sure you grasp the threads when starting a seam... then let go.
